The fiber guidance element includes a fiber guiding surface having a deflection point located in the interior of the fiber guidance element. The input direction of a fiber structure into the fiber guidance element forms an angle of inclination α with the fiber guiding surface at the deflection point. The splaying of the outer fibers of the fiber structure is increased and the quality of the yarn is thereby increased. The invention relates to a device for the production of a spun thread from a staple fiber strand by means of air spin method. The fiber guiding element according to the invention includes a fiber conveying channel with a fiber guiding surface, whereby the fiber guiding surface ends at a fiber presenting edge and leads the fibers of the staple strand in the form of an essentially flat arrangement lying next to each other. The fiber-guiding surface is configured in such a manner that it includes a diverting point which causes a deviation of the staple fiber strand, where the deviation is being provided in such a manner that the free fiber ends of the fibers within the staple fiber protrude from the staple fiber strand.

For this purpose, an opening region of the fiber transport passage is provided with a converging portion in which the airstream is supplementarily accelerated relative to a preceding acceleration. This supplementary acceleration serves to assist in bringing the fibers into the predetermined disposition on the friction spinning drum. The friction spinning device comprises an opening roller which is rotatably supported in a housing. The housing is connected to the fiber transport passage. The opening of the fiber transport passage extends close to a cylindrical surface of the friction spinning drum. The fibers leaving the opening are transported on the friction spinning drum towards a yarn formation position where they are twisted into a yarn which is withdrawn in a selectable withdrawal direction by withdrawal rollers.

A fiber sliver is drafted to a yarn count in a drafting mechanism and is fed to a false twist unit with a sliver width B1 of 10 to 19 mm. In accordance with the method, by means of the width B1, the fiber sliver leaving the delivery roller pair is divided into a yarn core rotated by the false twist member with a spinning triangle of the width B2 and into edge fibers delivered thereto. The edge fibers are taken up by the rotating yarn core in the suction passage of the false twist unit. The taking-up of the edge fibers occurs in that the front ends of the delivered edge fibers are caught by the rotating yarn core in the region of the narrowest portion of the suction passage and are wound about the yarn core with the same rotational direction as the fiber core but with a substantially larger inclination until the rear end of the edge fibers is wound into the yarn core in the spinning triangle. To maintain the width of the fiber sliver, as delivered by the apron pair and determined by the funnel, until catching of the sliver by the nip line of the delivery roller pair, one of the two aprons is extended into the converging space of the delivery roller pair and both aprons are guided so close to the corresponding roller of the delivery roller pair that the spacings between the aprons and the delivery rollers are close to zero. The spacing between the nip line and the narrowest portion of the suction passage is shorter than the average length of the procesed edge fibers, in order to ensure that the rear end of the edge fibers is not released from the nip line before the edge fibers are wound in the spinning triangle.

Further, both aprons are guided sufficiently close to their related delivery roller such that the aprons do not contact these rollers but leave open a minimal air gap, so that only a minimal quantity of the circulating air produced by the rotating delivery rollers can penetrate into the converging space.

An air duct is located opposite a separating opening which opens into the space containing the fiber opening roll so as to receive impurities centrifuged from the opening roll. The separating opening has a wall which forms an acute angle with the opposite wall of the duct so that the impurities can be deflected off the duct wall into the same direction as the air flow in the duct. The duct is narrowed downstream of this point in order to accelerate the air flow and entrained impurities out of the machine via a suction duct. This also stretches out any loose fibers in the flow for rapid removal in order to prevent clogging of the suction duct.

A spindle of an airjet spinning machine for guiding back the free yarn end after an interruption in a spinning process is disclosed. The spindle contains an injector duct in the immediate vicinity of the spindle orifice. To guide the free yarn end back after an interruption, compressed air is admitted through the injector duct and generates a suction action at the spindle end. After the yarn end has been guided back level with the entrance of the injector duct the yarn end is blown out of the spindle orifice by the compressed air.
