摘要:
A wire laying apparatus comprising a first carrier member, a second carrier member having one end connected to the first carrier member, a communication wire disposed within the second carrier member, and a compressor connected to and supplying a fluid under pressure to a second end of the second carrier member through which the fluid supplied by the compressor serves to move the communication wire from the second carrier member to the first carrier member. The wire laying apparatus may be restructured to serve as a wire collecting apparatus.

An optical fiber unit suitable for installation by the force of a fluid flowing through a passage. The unit includes at least one optical fiber and at least one interstitial cord. The fibers and cords are of the same diameter. They are bundled and surrounded by a first sheath that is formed of a material having a high Young's modulus. An outer sheath, of foamed polyethelene surrounds the first sheath.

An optical fiber unit including a plurality of sub-units. Each sub-units includes a plurality of optical fibers. Further, the sub-units are twisted together, with a twist pitch in the range of from 30 to 600 mm. Each group of optical fibers are coated with a primary layer to form a sub-unit. The sub-units are then twisted together and coated by a secondary coating. A porous layer is applied onto the secondary layer, thus forming the optical fiber unit.

In constructing an optical wiring network for connecting optical information processors on a plurality of floors of a building by pressure-feeding an optical fiber cable through a tube using a compressed gas provided by a pressure feeding apparatus, a cable installation route and a pressure of the compressed gas at the entrance end of the tube are first determined so that thrust exerted on the optical fiber cable by the compressed gas is greater, at every point of the route, than resistance including weight of the optical fiber cable in an ascending portion of the route and friction between the optical fiber cable and the tube. After installation of a tube in the building along the determined route, an optical fiber cable is fed through the installed tube with the pressure feeding apparatus, employing the above-determined pressure of the compressed gas at the entrance end.

The invention relates to an apparatus for laying an optical fiber unit with a pressure fluid into a previously laid duct line. Specifically, the apparatus performs this operation by a method for causing pressure fluid to flow backward into the guide tube on the feed side of the optical fiber unit so as to generate a buoyant force, so that the load due to the frictional force in the section between the feed side and the driving means can be much reduced. Accordingly, the method according to the present invention is particularly useful for pressure-sending an optical fiber unit into a duct line having insertion resistance, for example, a vertical duct line, a duct line having fine curves, or the like.

A photoelectric conversion apparatus includes a semiconductor substrate having a photoelectric conversion portion. An insulator is provided on the semiconductor substrate. The insulator has a hole corresponding to the photoelectric conversion portion. A waveguide member is provided in the hole. An in-layer lens is provided on a side of the waveguide member farther from the semiconductor substrate. A first intermediate member is provided between the waveguide member and the in-layer lens. The first intermediate member has a lower refractive index than the in-layer lens.

In a method for manufacturing a semiconductor device, a process of providing a semiconductor wafer having a wiring layer having conductive patterns and a plurality of insulation films containing a first insulation film surrounding side surfaces of the conductive patterns are provided. After the process of providing the semiconductor wafer, a process of removing some regions of the plurality of insulation films to form openings is provided. Herein, the first insulation film is disposed to a position closer to the circumference of the semiconductor wafer than a position closest to the outermost circumference of the wafer among the arrangement positions of the conductive patterns.

An image recognition apparatus includes a comparing unit that sequentially compares a reference pattern with an image in a search window having a shape corresponding to a size of an object to be determined in an input image while moving the search window relative to the input image to acquire a degree of coincidence between the reference pattern and the image in the search window, and a determining unit that determines that an object corresponding to the reference pattern is present in an area where the degree of coincidence is equal to or higher than a predetermined value when a width of the area corresponds to a width of the search window.
