The light emitting layer contains a light emitting substance for emitting light anisotropically, the light emitting substance having transition dipole moments attributable to a molecular skeleton thereof, and the transition dipole moments being oriented within an angular range from 0 degree to 70 degrees with respect to a direction normal to a side surface of the light emitting layer.

    摘要: A production device to produce an organic EL display includes a solution in which a light emitting material is dissolved, and a flying electrode to receive solution from the container. A voltage is applied between the tip of the flying electrode and an electrically conductive material of an organic EL substrate to form an electrostatic field, and the tip of the flying electrode and the organic EL substrate are shifted relative to one another in at least one of a perpendicular direction and a horizontal direction. With this arrangement, the solution is formed into a stringy beam from the tip of the flying electrode to it fly onto the organic EL, substrate, thereby injecting the solution into a concavity formed and surrounded by banks on the organic EL substrate, and forming red, green and blue light emitting layers.

    摘要: In an organic/inorganic composite superlattice type optical modulator capable of entering/projecting light, and capable of modulating an optical characteristic such as transmittance, reflectivity, and a refractive index of light in response to an externally controlled electric field, or light, the organic/inorganic composite superlattice type optical modulator includes at least one type of a compound semiconductor layer and at least one type of an organic compound layer; the compound semiconductor layer and the organic compound layer are alternately stacked in greater than one period; at least one of the compound semiconductor layer and the organic compound layer being crystalline; and also a thickness of each of the layers is made larger than a Bohr radius of the compound semiconductor and smaller than 10 times the Bohr radius. As a result, this novel optical modulator can provide a high nonlinear characteristic by a semiconductor modulator, and a high response characteristic by an organic modulator.

    摘要: An organic electroluminescence device is provided which employs a metal oxide electrode having particular composition distribution of elements to extend the life. A conventional approach for extending the life of an electroluminescence device is not provided by considering the degradation mechanism of how the organic electroluminescence device is degraded by the driving with electric current. The composite ratio of compounds of an electrode made of metal oxide forming part of the organic electroluminescence device is substantially uniform from a surface through which the carriers are injected from the electrode toward a deeper section in a bulk layer of the electrode. Thus, the electrode has stoichiometrically stable composition to prevent the degradation of electrode materials and diffusion into the organic layer, thereby providing a longer life.

    摘要: A zinc oxide thin film having desired crystallinity is fabricated. The present invention provides a zinc oxide thin film which laminated on a substrate, and which is a crystalline thin film of a wurtzite form. The c-axis of the crystalline thin film is oriented in a direction substantially perpendicular to the substrate. A zinc surface of being one polar surface of the crystalline thin film in the c-axis direction is formed in the uppermost layer. In addition, the invention also provides a zinc oxide thin film which is laminated on a substrate, and which is a crystalline thin film of a wurtzite form. The zinc oxide thin film is formed on a metal thin film layer by a thin film fabricating technique.
