摘要: An automotive audio speaker system includes a set of main speakers and a set of sub-speakers. The main speakers are distributed about the vehicle cabin so as to focus audio sound near the center thereof. The main speakers reproduce separate right and left audio channels, either singly or in groups, and the sub-speakers reproduce monaural sound resulting from combination of the right and left channels. The sub-speakers are arranged and operated in such a manner that the audio focus is divided and displaced to form a number of acoustic images, each coinciding with a passenger seat. Seat sensors capable of detecting the presence of a passenger in a corresponding seat may be used to control the operation of the sub-speakers, either by adjusting their relative volumes or by distributing the right and/or left audio channels thereamong.

摘要: A woofer system for an automotive audio system is provided with a protective cover extending over a section of a vehicle panel which both forms part of a vehicle body and serves as a speaker diaphragm producing acoustic vibrations at audio frequencies. The cover is in a spaced-apart relationship with said section so as not to interfere with oscillation of the section of the vehicle panel while it is oscillating at audio frequencies. The cover has a support extending toward the vehicle panel and surrounding the section. The support is formed with at least one opening for transmitting acoustic vibrations produced by oscillation of the section of the vehicle panel.

摘要: A system for reproducing stereophonic signal to create a stereophonic sound image in front of each of listeners sitting side by side in a compartment. The system includes a first loudspeaker positioned relative to the right of the first listener sitting on the right, a second side loudspeaker positioned relative to the left of the second listener sitting on the left, and a center loudspeaker unit positioned between the first and second side loudspeakers. A signal generator generates R and L stereophonic signals. The R signal is applied to drive the first side loudspeaker and the L signal is applied to drive the second side loudspeaker. The R and L signals are applied to drive the center loudspeaker unit. The signal generator includes a device for providing a predetermined time delay to the R and L signals applied to drive the center loudspeaker unit with respect to the signals applied to drive the first and second side loudspeakers.

摘要: Audio equipment designed for use at widely varying ambient noise levels allows an audio signal to be amplified to enhanced levels under noisy conditions without added distortion near the high-amplitude end of its dynamic range. Detected or anticipated ambient noise conditions trigger a dynamic range controller to boost the gain of the audio signal to an extent inversely related to the audio signal amplitude. Thus, low-volume audio will be boosted to a great extent while the high-volume end of the dynamic range will experience little or no additional gain. The net effect is two allowable dynamic ranges, both sharing the same high-end volume level but with possibly widely different low-end volume levels. This gain and dynamic range control may also be performed independently on a number of discrete frequency bands. In addition, noise components inherent to the audio signal may be filtered to ambient noise-dependent extends, or the gain boost may be inhibited at volume levels susceptible to such noise.

摘要: An apparatus for producing an improved sound field in an acoustic space. The apparatus comprises a signal source for producing a source signal. The source signal is applied to a loudspeaker for reproduction thereof. The source signal is also applied to a reverberation circuit. The reverberation circuit includes at least two reverberation signal generators which provide different predetermined time delays to the source signal for converting it to two reverberation signals. At least one phase inverter is connected to invert at least one of the two reverberation signals before the reverberation signals are reproduced.

摘要: An automotive audio system separates audio signals from an audio signal source into first and second components. The first component of the audio signal is sent directly to a first main amplifier through a first audio signal path and reproduced through a main speaker or speakers. On the other hand, the second component of the audio signal is sent to a second main amplifier through a second audio signal path. An echo system is provided with the second audio signal path, which echo system induces echos in the audio sound to be reproduced through the second main amplifier. The echo system is associated with a discriminator circuit which receives an audio signal output from the audio signal source and derives an echo system control signal on the basis of the audio signal. The echo signal control signal is fed to the echo system for controlling operation of the echo system.

摘要: An automotive audio system separates audio signals from an audio signal source into first and second components. The first component of the audio signal is sent directly to a first main amplifier and reproduced through a main speaker or speakers. On the other hand, the second component of the audio signal is sent to a second main amplifier after a predetermined delay time determined by a delay circuit. The delayed second component of the audio signal is reproduced through a auxiliary speaker or speakers after the predetermined delay time. The first and auxiliary speakers are distinct and preferably located at different points in the vehicle compartment. As a result, the directly reproduced first component and the delayed second component are reproduced through different audio sound sources. This affords the listener higher-quality audio sound and better ambience. If necessary, an echo signal generator may be added to the second component reproduction system to provide an echo effect. In this case, since the second component is reproduced by the second speaker or speakers which are different from the main speaker or speakers which reproduce the direct first component, the echo effect can be optimized for good ambience.
