摘要: An actuation mechanism for simultaneous actuation of first and second variable focal length lenses is disclosed. Each lens comprises a distensible membrane bounding a fluid-filled cavity, the focal length varying with the degree of curvature of the membrane as it distends. The actuation mechanism comprises a hydraulic master actuator in fluid communication with a hydraulic slave actuator associated with the first lens and with a hydraulic slave actuator associated with the second lens. Each slave actuator is configured to vary the degree of distension of the membrane of its associated lens in response to operation of the master actuator, whereby the master actuator is operable to cause a variation of the degree of distension of the membranes of both the first and second lenses simultaneously.

In a case of the multiple-property lens being attached to the lens attaching portion, a plurality of images corresponding to the plurality of areas is generated. In a case of the typical lens being attached thereto, one image is generated from imaging signals of all pixels of the directional sensor. In the case of the multiple-property lens being attached to the lens attaching portion, performed is correction of removing, from an image generated in correspondence with one area of the plurality of areas, influence of a luminous flux passing an area other than the one area. In the case of the typical lens being attached thereto, a difference in sensitivity for each pixel of a plurality of types of pixels is corrected.

摘要: Methods and apparatus relating to image capture of image portions using optical chains with non-parallel optical axis are described. In some embodiments different portions of a scene area of interest captured by different optical chains operating in parallel are combined. The use of multiple optical chains in parallel facilitates generation of an image with a higher overall pixel count than would be possible using a single sensor of one of the optical chains and/or with more light capture than would be captured using a single one of the optical chains.

摘要: An autofocus lens system includes no conventional moving parts and has excellent speed and low power consumption. The system includes a small electronically-controlled focusing-module lens. The focusing-module lens includes two adjustable polymeric surfaces (e.g., two adjustable-surface lenses in a back-to-back configuration). The curvature of the surfaces can be adjusted to change focus. The performance of the autofocus lens system is extended by adding a conventional first and second lens, or lens group, on either side of the focusing-module lens. What results is an autofocus lens system with excellent near field and far field performance.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for performing zoom in and zoom out operations are described using multiple optical chains in a camera device. At least one optical chain in the camera device includes a moveable light redirection device, said light redirection device being one of a substantially plane mirror or a prism. Different zoom focal length settings correspond to different scene capture areas for the optical chain with the moveable light redirection device. Overlap between scene areas captured by different optical chains increases during zoom in and decreases during zoom out. Images captured by different optical chains are combined and/or cropped to generate a composite image corresponding to a zoom focal length setting.
