    摘要: A ferrule for optical connector according to the present invention is provided with a fiber positioning hole, a pair of guide holes into which guide pins are inserted, and a connecting end face in which ends of the fiber positioning hole and guide holes open. A chamfer portion equivalent to a part of a surface of a body of revolution is formed at each guide hole on the connecting end face side. Further, the connecting end face is formed at an angle relative to a plane normal to the center axes of the pair of guide holes. In this structure, the slope of the connecting end face can suppress degradation of connection loss, and the provision of the chamfer portions can facilitate insertion of the guide pins, prevent damage of the connecting end face due to the guide pins, and also suppress degradation of connection loss due to the damage.

    摘要: An optical connector for connecting optical fibers, comprises: a guide-groove substrate having grooves for positioning optical fibers and guide pins; an upper plate having groove portions each for covering the guide pins positioned in the guide grooves of the guide-groove substrate; elastic guide-pin pressing members each provided in the groove portions of the upper plate above portions where the guide pin grooves are in contact with the guide pins. In such a arrangement, it is preferable to form an oxide film on said V-grooves of the guide-groove substrate at least in the vicinity of contact points between the guide pins and the V-grooves. The optical connector further includes a resin molding portion for surrounding the substrate and the upper plate, the resin molding portion including a pair of opposite opened portions at a front and back surfaces thereof.

The object of the present invention is to provide an optical fiber positioning member having practically sufficient mechanical strength and long-term durability, while maintaining high dimensional precision and dimensional stability. The optical fiber positioning member of the present invention comprises a resin composition containing a polyphenylene sulfide resin at a ratio in the range of 15% to 35% by weight, silica particles at a ratio in the range of 45% to 65% by weight, and silicate whiskers at a ratio in the range of 26% to 35% by weight, the resin composition containing the silica particles and the silicate whiskers at a ratio in the range of 65% to 85% by weight.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an adhesive for connecting and fixing an optical fiber to an optical connector and to an optical connector which uses that adhesive. The adhesive prevents deformation of the optical connector ferrule and stressing of the optical fiber due to hardening shrinkage during the hardening of the adhesive and/or a shrinkage during cooling of the adhesive. In accordance with the invention, (1) the value of (the coefficient of linear expansion (.degree.C..sup.-1) of the adhesive).times.(the difference between a hardening temperature of the adhesive and room temperature (.degree.C.)).times.(Young's Modulus (kg/mm.sup.2) of the adhesive) is equal to or less than about 2.5, (2) the value of (the rate of hardening shrinkage (%) of the adhesive).times.(Young's Modulus (kg/mm.sup.2) of the adhesive) is equal to or less than about 1000 and/or (3) the adhesive hardens at room temperature.
