    摘要: A clamping structure for disk drive for receiving a disk includes a spindle hub, a spacer, and a clamp ring. The spindle hub has a flange at a first end thereof. The flange has a first protruding portion. The discs are stacked on the first protruding portion. The first spacer is interposed between adjacent ones of the disks. The clamp ring is fixed to a second end of the spindle hub. The clamp ring has a second protruding portion for biasing the disks toward the flange of the spindle hub. In a process of forming a holder arm of the disk drive, the tip of a holder arm is contoured by wire cutting method after the holder armed is roughly formed from a metal body. In the wire cutting method, a voltage is placed between the metal body and the wire. The tip of the holder is contoured by the wire by bringing the wire into contact with the metal body.

    摘要: In a magnetic disk apparatus, a head driving device has a permanent magnet assembly and an arm assembly. The permanent magnet assembly has a pair of permanent magnets whose different polarities face each other with the intermediary of a pair of support members. In the arm assembly, an arm carries a magnetic head on one end and a coil on the other end. A coil is inserted between the opposite polarities of the magnets, so that the arm assembly is rotated by the Lorentz force generated in the coil. The range over which the arm assembly is rotatable is determined by the support members against which the arm assembly selectively abut. At least one of the support members is formed with a recess or groove for receiving part of the arm assembly when the assembly is rotated. Hence, despite that the support member has a substantial thickness, the movable range of the arm assembly is the same as when the support member has a small thickness. Such a support member prevents the magnetic circuit from saturating and frees the head from the influence of flux leakage.

    摘要: An arm assembly has a front end portion on which a plurality of magnetic heads opposed to a plurality of magnetic disk media, respectively, for writing/reading information are mounted, a rear end portion having a C shaped arm formed with a pair of holes or recesses having a predetermined depth and a center portion rotatably supported by a rotational shaft through bearings. A coil is fixedly secured to an inside surface of the C shaped arm through an adhesive for driving the arm assembly. A permanent magnet assembly is disposed in a location opposing the coil and constituting a magnetic circuit together with the coil. A pair of stoppers are provided on opposite sides of the C shaped arm with predetermined spaces and adapted to restrict a rotational movement of the C shaped arm by contacting with collision surfaces of the C shaped arm. The holes or the recesses of the C shaped arm may be filled with elastic material having superior vibration attenuating characteristics.
