摘要： A method of preparing a polyolefin oil in the present invention comprises polymerizing an olefin having 6 or more carbon atoms in the presence of a catalyst mixture consisting of a polyester of polycarboxylic acid and an aluminum halide. The thus prepared polyolefin oil has a low viscosity and a high viscosity index. When the foregoing polymerization is effected by adding aluminum powder to said catalyst mixture, the content of halogen in the resulting polyolefin oil can be decreased all the more.

摘要： When an olefin having 6 or more carbon atoms is polymerized in the presence of a mixture of a polyhydric alcohol derivative and an aluminum halide, said derivative being obtained by replacing hydrogen atoms of all the hydroxyl groups of polyhydric alcohol either by acyl groups exclusively or by acyl groups and alkyl groups, both of said groups having 1 to 20 carbon atoms (in which mixture the amount of said aluminum halide is 1.1 to 2.8 moles per 1 ester bond of said polyhydric alcohol derivative), there can be obtained liquid olefin polymers having various mean molecular weights at a high yield.

摘要： Liquid polyolefin oil having a kinematic viscosity of about 500 centistokes or more at 100.degree. F, a high viscosity index, a good shearing stability and a low pour point can be prepared by polymerizing an olefin having 6 or more carbon atoms in the presence of a catalyst mixture of (a) a dicarbonyl compound selected from a group consisting of acyclic or cyclic diketones and ketoesters and (b) an aluminum halide in an amount of 0.7 - 5 mole per one carbonyl group or ester bond of said dicarbonyl compound. Said catalyst mixture may contain an alkyl halide.

摘要： A micellar slug for use in the recovery of oil, the slug containing a hydrocarbon, an aqueous medium, a surfactant, and a cosurfactant. The surfactant contains as an essential component an internal olefin sulfonate having 10 to 26 carbon atoms, a hydroxyalkane sulfonate content of not less than about 40% by weight and a disulfonate content of not more than 20% by weight and said internal olefin sulfonate being desired from the sulfonation of an internal olefin having the general formula:R--CH.dbd.CH--R'wherein R is a straight- or branched-chain alkyl group having 4 to 23 carbon atoms, R' is a straight- or branched-chain alkyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms provided that the total carbon atom numbers of R and R' is 8 to 24 and 50% by weight or more of the internal olefins is that having R' with 1 to 4 carbon atoms. This micellar slug has an excellent capability for decreasing an interfacial tension between oil and water and an excellent salinity tolerance and hard-water resistance. Furthermore, the micro-emulsion can be formed from this micellar slug in a wide composition range.
