    摘要: A high-pressure discharge lamp includes: an arc tube that is made from a translucent ceramic material and composed of a main-tube part in which a discharge space is formed and thin-tube parts extending from both ends of the main-tube part; and a pair of electrodes having rods respectively extending from the two thin-tube parts into the discharge space so that the tops face each other with a distance in-between. The rod of at least one of the electrodes is held by a tubular electrode holder made of a halide-resistant metal embedded in and bonded to the thin-tube part via an adhesive agent including a sintered halide-resistant metal impregnated with mixture glass. The electrode holder is at such a position that satisfies “L≧0.012P+2.5 [mm]”, where “L” is distance [mm] between the electrode top and one end of the electrode holder closer to the discharge space, and “P” is lamp wattage [W].

    摘要: A metal halide lamp comprises a discharge tube of transparent ceramic in which a discharge metal is sealed, the discharge tube having a main cylindrical portion, ring portions provided at both ends of the main cylindrical portion, and tubular cylindrical portions provided at the ring portions; and a pair of electrodes inside the discharge tube; wherein a wall thickness .alpha. (in mm) of the main cylindrical portion satisfies the relation0.0023.times.W+0.22.ltoreq..alpha..ltoreq.0.0023.times.W+0.62,and a wall thickness .beta. (in mm) of the ring portion satisfies the relation0.0094.times.W+0.5.ltoreq..beta..ltoreq.0.0094.times.W+1.5,wherein W is the lamp power expressed in Watt. Alternatively, the discharge tube is air-tightly enclosed in the outer tube; the outer tube is filled with a gas comprising nitrogen gas; and the wall thickness .alpha. (in mm) of the main cylindrical portion satisfies the relation0.0023.times.W+0.12.ltoreq..alpha..ltoreq.0.0023.times.W+0.62,and the wall thickness .beta. (in mm) of the ring portion satisfies the relation0.0094.times.W+0.3.ltoreq..beta..ltoreq.0.0094.times.W+1.5,wherein W is the lamp power expressed in Watt. Thus, a metal halide lamp can be obtained that has a stable lifetime and considerably increased lamp efficiency compared to conventional high-color-rendition high-performance metal halide lamps using a quartz discharge tube.

    摘要: A metal halide lamp according to the present invention includes a discharge tube (3) having an envelope (18) that is formed of a translucent ceramic and has a main tube portion (16), a first slender tube portion (17a) and a second slender tube portion (17b) respectively formed in both end portions of this main tube portion (16), and a first electrode lead-in member (21) and a second electrode lead-in member (22) having a first electrode portion (25a) and a second electrode portion (25b) formed in their respective tip portions. The individual electrode lead-in members (21, 22) are inserted in the respective slender tube portions (17a, 17b), and a gap (23) is formed respectively between the slender tube portion (17a, 17b) and the electrode lead-in member (21, 22). A proximity conductor (19) is provided on an outer surface of the discharge tube (3), at least 2 turns of part of the proximity conductor (19) are wound helically around an end portion of the first slender tube portion (17a) on a side of the main tube portion (16). The proximity conductor (19) is connected electrically to the second electrode portion (25b). An amount of sealed mercury in the discharge tube (3) is equal to or smaller than 2.5 mg/cm3. The restarting characteristics are improved considerably.

    摘要: In a relay device, a first PTC thermistor has one end connected to a first external connecting terminal, and the other end connected to one end of a second PTC thermistor, the other end of which is connected to a second external connecting terminal, and the thermo-switch is thermally coupled to the first and second PTC thermistors, and connected in parallel with the second PTC thermistor. The thermo-switch is held closed when not heated, and is opened by heat generated by the first or second PTC thermistor. Therefore, the relay device is low in initial resistance, and small in power consumption during heat balance.

    摘要: Disclosed is a lighting system capable of preventing damage to an outer-tube resulting from an outer-tube discharge that often occurs at the end of useful life of a lamp. The lighting system includes: a metal halide lamp having an arc tube housed within an outer tube; and a lamp .lighting device for operating the metal halide lamp. The lamp lighting device includes: a power supply unit operable to supply an electric power to the metal halide lamp; a detecting unit operable to detect an electrical property of the metal halide lamp; a judging unit operable to judge, based on the detected electrical property, whether a currently occurring discharge is an outer-tube discharge; and an instructing unit operable to instruct the power supply unit to suspend or reduce the electric power supply to the metal halide lamp upon a judgment that the currently occurring discharge is an outer-tube discharge. The detection unit detects a lamp voltage. The judging unit judges that the currently occurring discharge is an outer-tube discharge if the detected lamp voltage differs from a lamp voltage under normal operation.
