Said multilayer molded article can be produced by feeding a skin material and a molten polypropylene resin composition having a crystallization rate of 45 second or less between a pair of upper and lower molds, molding the molten polypropylene resin composition in the molds with simultaneous adhering of the skin material to the surface of the molded resin composition and then cooling the molten resin composition to solidify the same. Said multilayer molded article has a small deformation degree without the soft feeling of the skin material being impaired.

The present invention relates to a metal mold for producing a synthetic resin molded product in a compression-molding method, which is comprises a pair of male and female molds which are allowed to mutually slide over a contact face, with the outer circumferential face of the male mold and the inner circumferential face of the female mold serving as sliding portions at the time of mold-clamping, characterized in that either the male mold or the female mold or both of the molds is constituted by a mold main body and a sliding member. The sliding member forms a portion of the metal mold over the entire sliding portions or on a portion thereof, and is removably attached to the mold main body. The same metal mold may be used for production of a non-laminated synthetic resin molded product and a laminated product having the same design by replacing only the sliding member, without the need for using different molding devices corresponding to the respective production processes.

A process for producing a hollow article in an assembly comprising first and second mold members movable relative to each other between a closed position in which an inner surface of the assembly defines a cavity and an open position. The cavity is shaped to define a corresponding configuration to the article. According to this process, a charge containing at least one molten thermoplastic resin is supplied at the first and/or second mold member while the mold members are not in the closed position. The first mold member is moved relative to the second mold member into the closed position so as to define the cavity, and a first clamping force F1 is applied to the first and second mold members. The charge is then compressed within the mold cavity under the first clamping force F1. Thereafter, the clamping force is reduced from the first clamping force F1 to a second clamping force F2 before the molten thermoplastic resin in the mold cavity has completely solidified. A compressed gas is supplied into at least one unsolidified portion of the molten thermoplastic resin subsequent to the step of closing the mold members and before the molten thermoplastic resin in the mold cavity has completely solidified. The molten thermoplastic resin can then be cooled in the mold cavity and solidified while supplying the compressed gas.

A multilayer molded article having good appearance is produced by providing a preheated fiber-reinforced resin sheet between a pair of upper and lower molds, and supplying a thermoplastic resin melt and optionally a foam sheet between the upper mold and the fiber-reinforced resin sheet. The thermoplastic resin melt is supplied through a resin supplying opening provided in the lower mold, and through a hole made in the fiber-reinforced resin sheet and the foam sheet. During the supply of the resin melt or as soon as the resin supply is finished, the molds are closed to further flow, and the resin melt is formed to produce a mu molded article made of the fiber-reinforced resin sheet, a skin layer of the thermoplastic resin and optionally the foam sheet therebetween.
