    摘要: The present invention provides an electrode material for an electric double layer capacitor which can provide an electric double layer capacitor having a low internal resistance and a large capacitance, a process for producing the same, and an electrode for an electric double layer capacitor and an electric double layer capacitor using the same. The electrode material of the present invention is characterized by comprising a carbonaceous material and an activated carbon, the carbonaceous material obtained by thermal-treating or activating a fullerene-containing soot or an extracted residue obtained by substantially extracting at least a part of fullerene from a fullerene-containing soot using a solvent. The electrode for an electric double layer capacitor and the electric double layer capacitor of the present invention is characterized by using the electrode material.

The polarizable electrode layers mainly contain activated carbon made from phenol resin, have a surface roughness not larger than 0.6 μm, and have an electrode density ranging from 0.5 g/cm3 to 0.7 g/cm3. This electric double layer capacitor has characteristics deteriorating little even at low temperatures, thus having a reliability for a long time.

    摘要: An electric double layer capacitor includes a case, an electrolyte solution accommodated in the case, and an electrode foil immersed in the electrolyte solution. The electrode foil includes a collector and an electrode layer covering the collector. The collector has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The collector has apertures provided therein. The apertures communicate with the first surface and the second surface of the collector. The collector includes a projection provided at an edge of at least one aperture out of the apertures. The projection projects from the first surface of the collector and penetrates the electrode layer. The electric double layer capacitor provides a large contact area and a large joining strength between the collector and the electrode layer, and allows the collector to have a small thickness, hence having a large output density and a large energy density.

    摘要: A capacitor includes a metal case and a terminal plate. The metal case accommodates a capacitor element together with a driving electrolyte and is joined to one of the electrodes of the capacitor element at its inner bottom surface. The terminal plate is joined to the other electrode at its inner surface so as to seal the opening of the metal case. The terminal plate is provided with a pressure regulating valve also functioning as a driving-electrolyte filling hole. The pressure regulating valve includes a ring-shaped elastic member which is pressed into the wall formed on the terminal plate.

    摘要: An electric double layer capacitor includes first and second collectors, first and second polarizable electrode layers provided on the first and second collectors, respectively, a separator having an insulating property provided between the first and second polarizable electrode layers, and an electrolytic solution impregnated in the separator and the first and second polarizable electrode layers. A lower electric potential is to be applied to the second collector than to the first collector. The electrolytic solution contains anion including fluorine as electrolyte. The separator includes a separation layer facing the second polarizable electrode layer, and an inhibition layer facing the first polarizable electrode layer. The separation layer contains cellulose. The inhibition layer is made of material different from that of the separation layer. The inhibition layer prevents cellulose from decomposing. This electric double layer capacitor prevents the separator from dissolving, having an excellent long-term reliability.
