The electrode foil includes a collector and an electrode layer covering the collector. The collector has a first surface and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The collector has apertures provided therein. The apertures communicate with the first surface and the second surface of the collector. The collector includes a projection provided at an edge of at least one aperture out of the apertures. The projection projects from the first surface of the collector and penetrates the electrode layer. The electric double layer capacitor provides a large contact area and a large joining strength between the collector and the electrode layer, and allows the collector to have a small thickness, hence having a large output density and a large energy density.
