The negative electrode active material includes a region in contact with at least one of the first functional material or the compound.

Abstract: An energy bank includes a plurality of integrated energy storage devices including a plurality of supercapacitors, a plurality of batteries and a plurality of metal shells. Each of the integrated energy storage devices includes a battery, a supercapacitor surrounding the battery, and a metal shell surrounding the supercapacitor. The supercapacitor forms a shell around an exterior surface of the battery. The battery includes a first anode, a first cathode, and an electrolyte disposed between the first anode and the first cathode. The supercapacitor includes a second anode, a second cathode, and a separator disposed between the second anode and the second cathode.

Abstract: A method of fabricating a capacitor can include prelithiating a carbon material to form a first layer for the capacitor. The first layer including an anode or being an anode layer. A second layer can be positioned between the first layer and a third layer. The second layer can be or include a membrane and the third layer can be or include a cathode. The third layer can include activated carbon or utilize activated carbon as a cathode. Capacitors can be formed by use of this method and devices can utilize such capacitors. Instead of relying on lithium in metallic form, a carbon material can be prelithiated to include lithium ions therein to form an anode for the LIC that avoids use of lithium foil or lithium powder in the LIC and also avoid use of lithium in a metallic form in the LIC.

Abstract: The embodiments herein provide for an oxygen/air cathode that includes metal-organic frameworks and/or hybrids of metal-organic frameworks and carbon networks. The metal-organic-framework-based Li—O2 cells are operated in humid O2 where water plays a critical role in improving battery performance. Such embodiments not only improve battery performance but also reduces the cost by cycling the Li—O2 batteries in humid oxygen with MOF@CNT hybrid catalysts.

Abstract: A capacitor-assisted electrode for an electrochemical cell that cycles lithium ions is provided. The capacitor-assisted electrode may include at least two electroactive materials disposed on one or more surfaces of a current collector. A first electroactive material of the at least two electroactive materials may have a first reversible specific capacity and forms a first electroactive material having a first press density. A second electroactive material of the at least two electroactive materials has a second reversible specific capacity and forms a second electroactive material having a second press density. The second reversible specific capacity may be different from the first reversible specific capacity. The second press density may be different from the first press density. One or more capacitor materials may be disposed on or intermingled with one or more of the at least two electroactive materials.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a binder which exhibits excellent dispersibility of a conductive assistant; a slurry composition and an electrode, each of which uses this binder; and an electricity storage device which is provided with this electrode.
The present invention relates to a binder for an electricity storage device, in which a loss tangent tan δ in a linear region of an aqueous dispersion liquid of 0.5% by mass of the binder and 4.6% by mass of a conductive assistant satisfies tan δ>1 in a strain dispersion measurement under measurement conditions of a measurement temperature of 25° C. and a frequency of 1 Hz, and the conductive assistant is an acetylene black having an average particle diameter of 30 nm or more and 40 nm or less and a specific surface area of 65 m2/g or more and 70 m2/g or less; a slurry composition and an electrode, each of which uses this binder; an electricity storage device which is provided with this electrode; and the like.-

Abstract: An energy storage device can include a cathode, an anode, and a separator between the cathode and the anode, where the anode and/or electrode includes an electrode film having a super-fibrillized binder material and carbon. The electrode film can have a reduced quantity of the binder material while maintaining desired mechanical and/or electrical properties. A process for fabricating the electrode film may include a fibrillization process using reduced speed and/or increased process pressure such that fibrillization of the binder material can be increased. The electrode film may include an electrical conductivity promoting additive to facilitate decreased equivalent series resistance performance. Increasing fibrillization of the binder material may facilitate formation of thinner electrode films, such as dry electrode films.
