Abstract: A chromogenic absorbent material for an animal litter includes an oxidizing agent responsive to peroxidatic/pseudoperoxidatic activity in an animal excretion or a first catalytic compound generating the oxidizing agent in situ. The material also includes a chromogenic indicator being chromogenically responsive to the oxidizing activity of the oxidizing agent, and an absorptive material which is porous, for absorbing the animal excretion. The absorptive material includes a water-absorbing polysaccharide providing absorptive properties to the chromogenic absorbent material; and may also include a second polysaccharide and a superabsorbent polymer. The material may be obtained in the form of particles having a low density and a high porosity, and is usable in conjunction with an animal litter for detecting various diseases in animals.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a capture agent for the treatment of gases, having an active phase that comprises a calcium silicate hydrate of (CaO)x(SiO2)y(H2O)z type with a Ca/Si molar ratio between 1.55 and 1.72, preferably between 1.65 and 1,72 and an H2O/Ca molar ratio between 1 and 1.4, preferably between 1.1 and 1.3, “z” being between 0.3 and 0.8, the capture agent having a specific surface area greater than 120 m2/g, preferably greater than 150 m2/g and particularly preferably greater than 200 m2/g and a pore volume greater than 0.4 cm3/g, preferably greater than 0.6 cm3/g and particularly preferably greater than 0.8 cm3/g.

Abstract: A filter aid composition may include an acid-treated composite silicate. The composite silicate comprises a silicate substrate and a precipitated silica. A method for making a filter aid composition may include providing a silicate substrate, precipitating a silica onto the silicate substrate to form a composite silicate, and treating the composite silicate with an acid to form an acid-treated composite silicate. A method for filtering a non-aqueous liquid may include providing a non-aqueous liquid for filtering and filtering the non-aqueous liquid through an acid-treated composite silicate. The composite silicate may include a silicate substrate and a precipitated silica. A filter aid may include an acid-treated composite diatomite. The acid-treated composite diatomite may include a diatomite substrate and a precipitated silica gel coating. The precipitated silica may be a precipitated ilica gel.

Abstract: The subject of the present invention is the use of a porous or non-porous organosilicon material for eliminating radionuclides, mineral anions, anionic molecular entities and negatively charged dyes or active principles from an aqueous solution, characterized in that the structure of said organosilicon material is formed of repeat units, each repeat unit comprising at least one positively charged entity selected from an ammonium entity, an imidazolium entity, a guanidinium entity, a pyridinium entity and a phosphonium entity and being incorporated into a silicon network by at least two silicon-carbon bonds. The invention also relates to a specific novel organosilicon material, comprising at least one benzyl group, one 4-phenylbenzyl group or one styrene group in each repeat unit.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for the separation of ethane and heavier hydrocarbons or propane and heavier hydrocarbons from natural gas to provide a methane-rich natural gas stream and less volatile natural gas liquids (NGLs). This method provides for passing a natural gas feedstream though a regenerable adsorbent media which adsorbs the NGLs to provides the methane rich natural gas product. The regenerable adsorbent media of the present invention is a cross-linked macroporous polymeric adsorbent media.
