摘要:
A knocking detection method for internal combustion engines in which vibrations of the engine are detected by a vibration sensor and a peak value of the vibrations during a predetermined interval near the top dead center in each revolution of the engine is sampled. The peak value for each revolution is stored for a predetermined number of revolutions of the engine and an average value of the peak values is obtained. Then the ratio of each peak value to the average value is calculated, and the number of ratios whose magnitude exceeds a predetermined magnitude is expressed in terms of a rate or a percentage with respect to the total number of ratios, i.e., the predetermined number of revolutions of the engine. The presence or absence of the knocking is determined whether or not the rate or percentage is above a reference rate or percentage.
摘要:
A method for detecting knock for an internal combustion engine having a plurality of cylinders in which a vibration sensor is attached to each cylinder and a peak value of vibration detected by the sensor is sampled over a predetermined interval near the top dead center. The sampled value is converted from analog to digital and stored for a predetermined number of sampling times to obtain the average value for each cylinder. Then the frequency of occurrences in which the ratio between the sampled peak value and the average value exceeds a reference value is obtained, and the knock is determined when the frequency of occurrences in any one cylinder exceeds a predetermined value or when the average frequency of occurrences of the all cylinders exceed another predetermined value.

A float chamber means for a carburetor having a heating element provided in its float chamber for selectively heating liquid fuel contained in the float chamber so that highly volatile components included in the fuel are vaporized in the float chamber and released from the liquid fuel before it enters into fuel passages provided in the carburetor thereby avoiding percolation due to abnormal vaporization of fuel in those fuel passages.

A knocking control device having a knocking detecting circuit for detecting, as an electrical signal, an amount of variation corresponding to an internal pressure variation within a cylinder of an engine due to an engine knocking; an averaging circuit for converting the electrical signal from the knocking detecting circuit to a signal corresponding to a knocking energy; a crank angle detecting circuit for detecting a rotation phase of the engine; a comparison circuit for comparing the output signal corresponding to the knocking energy of the averaging circuit with a reference value defining a knocking allowable level to obtain a control signal for maintaining an engine knocking strength in a predetermined range; and an ignition control circuit connected to an ignition circuit, for controlling the ignition timing of the ignition circuit by the control signal from the comparison circuit. The present invention can detect the knocking strength with high accuracy as an electrical signal based on the cylinder internal pressure variation due to knocking and can carry out a knocking strength control suitable for characteristics of an engine by using the electrical signal. Also the present invention can remarkably improve an engine combustion efficiency and fuel consumption percentage by accepting a knocking to some extent.

A fuel supply system for engines, including a fuel tank divided into first and second chambers, a fuel supply passage means including a fuel pump and supplying fuel from the fuel tank to a carburetor of the engine and a fuel return passage means for returning the excess fuel supplied to the carburetor to the second chamber of the fuel tank. An upper region of the second chamber is bled, while the first chamber is supplied with new fuel, the fuel supply passage means including a change-over valve which usually connects the fuel supply passage to the first chamber, while it connects the fuel supply passage to the second chamber when the fuel temperature has risen beyond a predetermined value.

A fuel supply system for engines having a carburetor which has a float chamber and a vapor bleed passage connected to the float chamber, wherein a part of a fuel supply passage means for supplying fuel from a fuel tank to the carburetor traverses through the float chamber so that the fuel flowing through the fuel supply passage means absorbs heat from the fuel contained in the float chamber. The fuel entering into the float chamber releases volatile light components as vapor towards the vapor bleed passage while the liquid fuel contained in the float chamber becomes a more stable liquid due to the release of volatile components and the cooling effected by heat exchange with the fuel flowing through the fuel supply passage means.

In an internal combustion engine wherein feedback control of the air-fuel ratio is carried out in accordance with the concentration of a specific composition in the exhaust gas, so that the air-fuel ratio is close to an aimed air-fuel ratio, the atmospheric pressure is detected, and the aimed air-fuel ratio is varied in accordance with the detected atmospheric pressure.

In an electronically controlled engine supplying fuel from a fuel injector near an intake port to an intake system, asynchronous acceleration fuel injection is carried out in relation to the secondary differential d.sup.2 X/dt.sup.2 of intake pipe pressure or intake air flow rate with respect to time t. Since the d.sup.2 X/dt.sup.2 increases rapidly and accurately after the start of acceleration of the engine, the asynchronous acceleration fuel injection can be carried out rapidly and accurately.

In the fuel control for an engine for which cut off of fuel supply is performed while the engine is in the decelerating operation condition, at the time of fuel cut off termination, an injection of fuel through a fuel injector into an intake system of the engine is supplied at substantially the same time as stopping the fuel cut off, wherein the amount of such fuel injection is controlled according to the temperature of the air being sucked into the engine intake system so as to be decreased as the air temperature increases.
摘要:
A method and apparatus for performing air/fuel ratio feedback control for an internal combustion engine by comparing the results of the two comparisons; (a) comparing a determined (i.e., decision) value with a measured value detected by an oxygen sensor, and (b) comparing the determined value with a reference value, so as to determine if either is relatively large or small. Further included is an arrangement for determining whether the determined value coincides with the measured value as well as whether it coincides with the reference value, and then increasing or decreasing the determined value in accordance with the result of the determination (comparison), thereby correcting an abnormal condition of the determined (i.e., decision) value whenever the determined value is displaced from a normal condition due to injected random noise.
