摘要: The invention relates to a probe for an implantable electro-stimulation device. The probe (20) has a distal end (12) and a proximal end (13), and moreover comprises: one or more electrodes (11) a shield (21) of conducting material covering a major part of the probe, said shield extending from the vicinity of at least one of the one or more electrodes (11) towards the proximal end (13) or towards the distal end (12) of the probe (20); and a layer (22a, 22b) of insulating material covering part of the shield (21) in the vicinity of the at least one of the one or more electrodes. The shield protects wires (14), extending from electrodes to the proximal end of the probe, from undesired interference of external RF fields. The exposed part of the shield not covered by the layer of insulating material serves as a return electrode for the electrostimulation signal path.

摘要: The invention relates to an electronic apparatus (100) comprising a charging module (20) for receiving external energy (RF1) and for transferring it to a rechargeable energy storage (10) in a “charging state”. Moreover, the apparatus comprises a processing module which can be operated in a working state that is enabled if the charging module (20) is in the charging state and the apparatus is in a standard operating mode. The processing module may for example be a communication module (30) that can communicate wirelessly in its working state. In the standard operating mode, communication with the apparatus (100) is thus only possible if the apparatus (100) is simultaneously charged. The communication module (30) can therefore be completely switched off during the residual time, thus reducing power consumption and avoiding erroneous communication or misuse.

摘要: The disclosure is directed to a deep brain stimulation (DBS) lead having a distal end for providing therapeutic electrical stimulation to tissue in a stimulation target area of a patient's brain, comprising an array of one or more stimulation elements and sensing elements located at the distal end of the lead; each of the one or more stimulation elements is capable of providing electrical stimulation to the brain tissue in the target area; and each of the one or more sensing elements is capable of detecting electrical signals produced by nerve cells within the brain; wherein after the first implantation of the lead into the brain along a trajectory that is pre-determined by non-surgical procedures, the array of stimulation and sensing elements is capable of facilitating the location of the target area and the determination for each of the stimulation elements of the required stimulation parameters needed to provide the therapeutic stimulation to the brain tissue in the stimulation target area, without requiring any additional implantations of the lead after the first implantation. A stimulation system including the DBS lead and a pulse generator is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method of providing therapeutic DBS to brain tissue using the lead.

摘要: A record carrier has information represented by high density read-only marks in a track. The read-only marks (74,75) are optically readable according to a predefined high-density data format such as CD or DVD via a beam of radiation by first variations of the radiation. The record carrier has a recordable layer (70) for writing recorded marks (72,73) in a recording area of the record carrier, which recording area extends over the track (9) carrying the read-only marks. The recordable layer (70) is arranged to generate second variations of the radiation by a difference between an unrecorded state and a recorded state. A recording device writes recorded marks on top of the read-only marks. A read device recovers the first and second variations, and detects the read-only marks and the recorded marks from a same part of the track.
