Abstract: An embodiment of a liquid-crystal display is provided which includes: a first substrate having a first pixel electrode, a second pixel electrode, and a third pixel electrode; a second substrate having an opposite electrode, wherein the first pixel electrode, the second pixel electrode and the third pixel electrode, respectively, have a first overlapping area, a second overlapping area and a third overlapping area overlapped with the opposite electrode, and wherein the first overlapping area is smaller than the second overlapping area and the third overlapping area; and a liquid-crystal layer interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. In addition, another embodiment of a liquid-crystal display is also provided, in which the first pixel electrode, the second pixel electrode and the third pixel electrode have different gaps with the opposite electrode, respectively.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a panel including a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid-crystal layer including a left-handed chiral dopant, a first polarizing plate, a second polarizing plate and a patterned electrode. The first polarizing plate has a first absorption axis perpendicular to a second absorption axis of the second polarizing plate.
