Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for privacy enhancement are provided herein. A method performed by a station, STA (201), may include transmitting, to an access point, AP (202), a first frame including information indicating that the STA (201) will use an over-the-air medium access control, otaMAC, address for a frame sent to the AP (202). The method may further include generating (210) a second frame for transmission to the AP (202) including a network MAC, nMAC, address of the STA (201), encrypting (211) the generated second frame, and replacing (212) the nMAC address with an otaMAC address either during the encryption or after the encryption. The method may further include transmitting (213) the encrypted second frame, including the otaMAC, to the AP (202), such that the AP (202) may replace (214) the otaMAC address with the nMAC address and decrypt (215) the second frame for forwarding via a distribution system, DS (203).

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein for multicast and unicast MAC address assignment protocol (MUMAAP). A first node may transmit, to a second node, based on a unicast MAC address of the second node or a multicast MAC address associated with the second node, a discover message that may include a first MAC address or a first range of MAC addresses. The first node may receive an offer message with a second range of MAC addresses. If the first node selects a second MAC address from the received second range of MAC addresses, the first node may transmit a request message indicating that the second MAC address or the second range of MAC addresses is allocated to the first node. The first node may receive an acknowledge message indicating that the second MAC address or the second range of MAC addresses is allocated to the first node.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described for dynamic medium access control (MAC) address distribution in a wireless network. A station (STA) may receive, from an access point (AP), a frame that includes an indicator indicating at least one MAC address type or MAC address policy supported by an extended service set (ESS) associated with the AP. The indicator may comprise an 8 bit bitmap. The STA may then transmit, to the AP, a request message that includes MAC Address Assignment Protocol information determined based on the at least one MAC address type or MAC address policy. The STA may receive a response message that includes a local medium access control (MAC) address assigned based on the MAC Address Assignment Protocol information. The STA may transmit, to the AP, an association request frame with the local MAC address.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described herein for increasing reliability in IEEE 802.11 networks. A first station (STA) may generate a set of configurations that meets reliability requirements of a traffic flow associated with a frame. Each of the set of configurations may comprise a number of replications of the frame, a channel bandwidth, and a modulation and coding scheme (MCS). The first STA may transmit, to a second STA, a plurality of request to send (RTS) frames over a plurality of channels The first STA may receive, from the second STA, a plurality of clear to send (CTS) frames indicating whether the plurality of channels are available. The first STA may then select, based on the number of available channels, a first configuration from the set of configurations. The first STA may transmit, based on the first configuration, a plurality of copies of the frame simultaneously over the available channels.

Abstract: Service information (e.g., enhanced broadcast service (eBCS) information) may be distributed. Service (e.g., eBCS) capabilities may be advertised (e.g., by an access point (AP)), for example, by broadcasting a public action frame. A public action frame may include per-service information. A public action frame may be transmitted on a per service basis. A public action frame may combine authentication information and service information. Enhanced broadcast service origin authentication may be performed on a per service basis (e.g., using origin authentication information to authenticate broadcast data frames for a consumed service). Origin authentication information may be common to frames associated with different services. Services may be consumed without querying a service originating device. Stations (e.g., with and without association with an AP) may report consumption or usage of services. Reporting may be unsolicited or solicited (e.g., in response to a request from an AP).
