摘要: A method of operating a production optical amplifier comprises determining a training data set of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) values of a training optical amplifier over a plurality of training operating conditions, determining a production data set of ASE values of the production optical amplifier over a plurality of production operating conditions, the plurality of production operating conditions corresponding to a sub-set of the plurality of training operating conditions, determining an adjusted data set of adjusted ASE values produced by extrapolation from the production data set so that the adjusted data set is provided over a plurality of operating conditions corresponding to the plurality of training operating conditions, determining, for each of a plurality of operating conditions, a dynamic ASE tilt factor from the training data set and the adjusted ASE data set so determined, determining a larger data set of ASE values over a wider set of operating conditions than either the training data set or the production data set from the adjusted ASE dataset and the dynamic ASE tilt factor, and compensating the optical output power of the production optical amplifier in correspondence with the larger ASE data set generated from the production data set and the dynamic ASE tilt factor over the plurality of operating conditions, which is preferably a larger set of operating conditions than that of the training data set or production data set. Advantageously a compensating ASE value can be more quickly and cheaply determined by this method compared to those shown in the prior art.

摘要: A CMOS image sensor with a many million pixel count. Applicants have developed techniques for combining its continuous layer photodiode CMOS sensor technology with CMOS integrated circuit lithography stitching techniques to provide digital cameras with an almost unlimited number of pixels. A preferred CMOS stitching technique exploits the precise alignment accuracy of CMOS stepper processes by using specialized mask sets to repeatedly produce a single pixel array pattern many times on a single silicon wafer with no pixel array discontinuities. The single array patterns are stitched together lithographically to form a pixel array of many million pixels. A continuous multilayer photodiode layer is deposited over the top of the many million pixel array to provide a many million pixel sensor with a fill factor of 100 percent or substantially 100 percent.

摘要: A rotary bag machine and method for making bags from a film are disclosed. They include a rotary drum, an accumulation nip, a blanket that positions the film against the drum, and a blanket tensioner located away from the accumulation nip. The drum includes at least one seal bar mounted thereon, and the accumulation nip provides the film to the drum. Various aspects include the accumulation nip being in a fixed position independent of changes of the drum diameter, and/or the path from the accumulation nip to the drum being fixed in length, independent of changes of the drum diameter. An accumulation sensor and a controller that controls the accumulation nip speed and the drum speed in response to the sensor are provided in one embodiment. The speed control is in response to the speed of the film, the rate of change of a function of the input, response history, and/or a setpoint, in various alternatives. A drawtape module and a powered unwind are disposed in a single module with the rotary drum, in another embodiment. A registration mark sensor is located upstream of the accumulation nip, along a path having a fixed length to the drum, in another embodiment. The sensor may be a print sensor.
