    摘要: A film having a high transmittance and matt property is disclosed which has, on a transparent support 1, a hard coat layer 2 incorporated therein particles 4 of a particle size of 1.0 to 10 μm that is larger than the layer thickness thereof, and a low-refractive-index layer 3 having a refractive index of 1.45 or less and covering said hard coat layer, wherein a haze value is 1.0% or more, and a total transmittance of light is 93.5% or more. The film having a high transmittance can prevent occurrence of unevenness of display due to thermal expansion of a light-tuning film and occurrence of unevenness of brightness peculiar to the light-tuning film.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an optical film having matt property and a matted film having a high transmittance which can be used for producing polarizing plates or liquid crystal display device excellent in display brightness and display quality by using the aforesaid films adjusted in a specific surface roughness or by using a specific two kinds of fine particles in a hard coat layer of the films. The present invention relates also to a polarizing plate of a high transmittance having an optical compensative capacity and matt property. A liquid crystal display device and a color liquid crystal display device using the aforesaid polarizing plate possessing an excellent viewing angle characteristics and is improved in Newton ring caused by contact with a light-tuning film and in non-uniformity in brightness due to the light-tuning film.

    摘要: There is provided an optical device including a plurality of polarizers that are arranged along a propagation direction of incident light, where the plurality of polarizers have transmission axes of substantially the same direction, a phaser that is provided between the plurality of polarizers, where the phaser has a retarded-phase axis forming a predetermined angle with the transmission axes of the plurality of polarizers, and a phase modulator that is provided adjacent to the phaser along the propagation direction, where the phase modulator has a retarded-phase axis of substantially the same direction as the retarded-phase axis of the phaser. Here, a phase difference generated in the incident light by the phase modulator is temporally adjusted such that the optical device transmits light in different wavelength ranges at different timings.

    摘要: A first bar code that is reproduced by linearly polarized red light (first read light) parallel to a short-side direction and a second bar code that is reproduced by linearly polarized green light (second read light) parallel to a long-side direction are recorded on a birefringence label. A probe is a reading device that reads the first and second bar codes from the birefringence label and includes first and second light sources and an imaging unit. The first light source emits the first read light to the birefringence label. The second light source emits the second read light to the birefringence label at a time different from that of the first read light. The imaging unit captures the birefringence label through a polarizing plate having a transmission axis aligned with the short-side direction of the birefringence label, and acquires reproduced images of the first and second bar codes.

    摘要: A transfer material comprising an optically anisotropic layer formed of a liquid crystalline composition comprising a monomer having an acidic group and/or a monomer which generates a monomer having an acidic group by an action of an acid or a base, and a photosensitive polymer layer, which is useful for forming an optically anisotropic layer in a liquid crystal cell, is provided. A process for easily producing a laminated structure having a patterned optically anisotropic layer, which comprises the following steps [1] and [2]: [1] subjecting the transfer material to patterned light exposure using photomask; and [2] removing the non-exposed parts of the transfer material by development with an aqueous alkaline solution, is also provided.
