An electronic device that has an optical modulation region and a non-optical modulation region is provided, and the electronic device includes a first substrate, a first transparent electrode layer, and a second transparent electrode layer. The first transparent electrode layer is disposed on the first substrate. The second transparent electrode layer is disposed on the first transparent electrode layer and has an opening. The optical modulation region overlaps the opening, and the non-optical modulation region overlaps the first transparent electrode layer and the second transparent electrode layer. A cell gap of the optical modulation region is greater than a cell gap of the non-optical modulation region.
Abstract:
An electronic device and a method for manufacturing an electronic device are provided. The electronic device includes a first substrate, a second substrate disposed opposite to the first substrate, a first light-shielding strip disposed on the first substrate and extending along a first direction, and a second light-shielding strip disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and extending along a second direction different from the first direction. A portion of the first light-shielding strip overlapping a portion of the second light-shielding strip is defined as an overlapping region. The other portions of the first light-shielding strip and the second light-shielding strip outside the overlapping region are defined as a first non-overlapping region and a second non-overlapping region. The first light-shielding strip has a first thickness in the overlapping region and a second thickness in the first non-overlapping region. The second light-shielding strip has a third thickness in the overlapping region and a fourth thickness in the second non-overlapping region. A total of the first thickness and the third thickness is different from the fourth thickness.

An overlapping region is the first light-shielding strip overlapping the second light-shielding strip and has a total thickness, a first non-overlapping region of the first light-shielding strip and a second non-overlapping region of the second light-shielding strip are outside the overlapping region, the second light-shielding strip in the second non-overlapping region has a thickness different from the total thickness. In a cross-section view, a part of the color filter patterns includes a convex portion corresponding to the first or the second light-shielding strip.

The first substrate has a first surface, and the second substrate comprises a visible region and a non-visible region. The second substrate has a second surface, and the second surface is opposite to the first surface. The space layer includes a plurality of spacers and at least one space component. The spacers are located on the visible region, and the space component is located in the non-visible region. The protective film has water vapor barrier property. The protective film covers the space component, and forms at least one barrier wall. The barrier wall touches the first surface and the second surface.
