Abstract: A communication device may include a host and a modem interconnected by an interface. The host includes a host processor configured to control components of the communication device and to communicate with the modem via the interface. The modem includes a modem processor configured to control components of the modem and to communicate with the host via the interface, and a transceiver configured to communicate with the modem processor and to transmit data to, and receive data from, a communications network. The modem processor is configured to identify a reduced activity state of the modem and to communicate information on the reduced activity state to the host processor. The host processor is configured to reduce, in response to the information on the reduced activity state of the modem, an operation of at least one component of the communication device.

Abstract: Communication devices and methods of data communication are herein disclosed. In some aspects, a communication device may include a host and a modem interconnected by an interface. The host includes a host processor configured to control components of the communication device and to communicate with the modem via the interface. The modem includes a modem processor configured to control components of the modem and to communicate with the host via the interface. The modem processor is further configured to communicate information on a reduced activity state and a time remaining until a next event of the modem to the host processor. The host processor is further configured to reduce an operation of at least one component of the communication device based on receipt of the information on the reduced activity state of the modem and the time remaining until the next event of the modem.

Abstract: A mobile radio communication device may operate in a wireless communication network including at least one base station configured to transmit control information and content to the mobile radio communication device. The mobile radio communication device may receive a number of communications transmitted by a base station in a number of time frames. The communication device may analyze whether the communications from the base station include control information addressed to the communication device. Based on the analysis, the mobile radio communication device may automatically predict whether an communication transmitted by the base station in an time frame will include control information addressed to the communication device. Based on the prediction, the mobile radio communication device may manage the power consumption of at least one of its components during the time frame.

Abstract: Described herein are technologies related to an implementation of a thermal management scheme in a device. Particularly, a look up table or LUT is configured to include a data set of information (e.g., user-profile data, network-profile data) and a corresponding recommended thermal throttling mode. During regular device operation, conditions internal/external to the device is detected and the corresponding thermal throttling mode (from the LUT) is applied. In certain implementations, optimization algorithms are used in place of the LUT.
