    摘要: This invention concerns a compact fluorescent lamp with a double helix shaped discharge tube in which the two strands of the helix are constituted by two helix shaped tube portions. These tube portions define a central axis of the discharge tube. The double helix formed by the discharge tube has a central section and a first end section. These sections are defined along the central axis, and the lamp base for receiving ends of the tube portions is disposed at the first end section. An inner diameter of the central section of the helix is larger than an inner diameter of the first end section. The invention further relates to a method and apparatus for manufacturing coiled shaped discharge tubes, in particular the above described discharge tube of the discharge lamp. A radially segmented molding core is used for manufacturing the discharge tube. Once the coiling of the discharge tube on the molding core is completed, the segmented molding core is shrunk radially, and then is withdrawn from the coiled discharge tube axially.

    摘要: A fluorescent lamp comprises a discharge tube disposed substantially in a plane and shaped at least in part to define a substantial portion of the boundary of a zone in the plane. The part of the tube defining the boundary includes at least one straight portion. The discharge tube has a central axis and sealed ends provided with electrodes and at least two tube sections running substantially parallel to each other. Each tube section has at least one blind-sealed end and the tube sections are connected in series through bridges in the vicinity of the blind-sealed ends to define a single continuous discharge space to be excited by electrical power supplied to the electrodes. A lamp support housing is positioned within the zone and the ends of the discharge tube as well as the blind-sealed ends of the tube sections are re-entrant into the zone. The ends of the discharge tube are received in the lamp support housing. The lamp support housing carries means suitable for mechanically and electrically connecting to a socket and include lead-in wires connecting the electrodes directly or through an operating circuit to the means suitable for electrically connecting to a socket.

    摘要: A bulb-shaped outer envelope for accommodating at least one lamp including a light-emitting body and a control gear is disclosed. The envelope has a substantially spherical section for receiving the light-emitting body, and an elongated end section for receiving at least a part of the control gear components. The elongated end section is provided with a neck section. A substantially tubular neck-extension portion connects to an inner surface portion of and protruding from the neck section. The neck-extension portion is suitable for accommodating a remaining part of the control gear components. In a method for the manufacture of a glass outer envelope, a flare that is normally used in the manufacture of incandescent lamps is turned around by 180°, put into a skirted bulbous envelope, melted into the envelope while the skirt is detached and the flare is formed into a neck-extension portion. A self-ballasted compact fluorescent lamp with the bulb-shaped outer envelope is also disclosed. A part of the ballast components are disposed in the neck-extension portion of the outer envelope.

    摘要: A low pressure discharge lamp with a double helix shape comprises a lamp base and an envelope connected to the lamp base. The envelope has a phosphor coating on an interior surface thereof, and contains a gas fill energizable to a discharge state by electrical voltage. The envelope includes discharge tube sections which are wound about a longitudinal axis and fitted into each other as a double-start thread. The discharge tube sections have first end portions and second end portions. The first end portions are closer to the lamp base and each have a gas-tight sealing and electrodes in the sealing for receiving the electric voltage. The second end portions are farther off the lamp base and each have a gas-tight sealing. These second end portions are bent inwards from a pitch of the helix and extend next to each other spaced apart by a clearance. A passage is formed between said second end portions. The passage is spaced apart by a distance from the sealing of each said second end portion.

    摘要: There is disclosed a method for forming a discharge tube for a low-pressure discharge lamp. In the method, an end of a section of the discharge tube is fastened with first clamping means, and a second end of the section in held in an oriented position. The section is heated to a softening temperature, and a bending moment is exerted on the section between the first end and the second end for achieving the desired radius or direction of curvature of the section. The holding of the second end of the section and the exertion of the bending moment on the section are effected at least partly with another re-solidified section of the discharge tube which is adjacent to the softened first section. An apparatus for performing the method is also disclosed. The apparatus comprises first and second clamping means for positioning the ends of a bending section of the discharge tube in an oriented position relative to each other, and for exerting a bending moment on the ends. The second clamping means is also used for positioning the ends of a starting bending section relative to each other. Heating means are provided for heating the bending section to a softening temperature, and controllable support means for positioning the first and second clamping means. Control means are used for synchronizing the operation of the controllable support means. The first and second clamping means and the heating means are suitable for achieving a desired radius or direction of curvature of the bending sections heated to the softening temperature.

A method of manufacturing a lamp with pin connectors is also disclosed. In this method, an outer envelope made of a glass material is connected to a base portion that has a base plate with embedded pin connectors. A lamp that comprises a bulb-shaped outer envelope made of a plastic material and has a base portion with pin connectors is also provided.

    摘要: A dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) lamp is disclosed. The DBD lamp comprises a discharge vessel, which encloses a discharge volume filled with discharge gas. The discharge vessel further comprises a phosphor layer within the discharge volume. The discharge vessel comprises an outer tubular portion having an internal surface, and an inner tubular portion having an outward surface. The outer tubular portion surrounds the inner tubular portion. In this manner, a substantially annular discharge volume is enclosed between the outer tubular portion and the inner tubular portion. The inner tubular portion comprises a multitude of protrusions around its circumference. The protrusions extend into the substantially annular discharge volume. A first set of interconnected electrodes and a second set of interconnected electrodes are also provided. The electrodes are isolated from the discharge volume by at least one dielectric layer, and at least one of the dielectric layers is constituted by the wall of the inner tubular portion.
