    摘要: In an embodiment, hardware implementing a transcendental or other non-linear function is based on a series expansion of the function. For example, a Taylor series expansion may be used as the basis. One or more of the initial terms of the Taylor series may be used, and may be implemented in hardware. In some embodiments, modifications to the Taylor series expansion may be used to increase the accuracy of the result. In one embodiment, a variety of bit widths for the function operands may be acceptable for use in a given implementation. A methodology for building a library of series-approximated components for use in integrated circuit design is provided which synthesizes the acceptable implementations and tests the results for accuracy. A smallest (area-wise) implementation which produces a desired level of accuracy may be selected as the library element.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for coldworking holes using rotational mandrel. The apparatus uses a tubular seamless sleeve made of shape memory alloys having a superelasticity property, a mandrel having major and minor diameter portions, an end-cap to seat and restrain axial and rotational motion of said sleeve. The preferred coldworking operation includes the steps of placing the sleeve firmly between the end-cap and the adapting-spacer which are carried on a mandrel pulling means, passing forward the major diameter portion of the mandrel through the sleeve whose diameter is therefore elastically expanded and thereafter shrinks, inserting the sleeve together with the mandrel into said hole, placing the end-cap against the workpiece, retracting while rotating the mandrel backward through and out of the sleeve; thereby expanding the sleeve wall against the hole bore and exerting radial outward force on the sleeve which in turn transmits the coldworking force to the hole bore and plastically expand said hole; thereafter the sleeve diameter shrinking to a smaller size to ease the removal of the sleeve out of the hole. The sleeve is reusable due to the superelasticity property of shape memory alloys.

    摘要: A partial HDMI physical layer (“phy”) decoder core is used in an audiovisual (A/V) sink device to perform HDCP pre-authentication on inactive HDMI ports, so as to enable fast switching between HDMI ports. Whenever a source device is connected to the any HDMI port of the A/V sink device, HDCP authentication is performed on that port immediately, even if A/V data on that port is not being output to a user. As a result, when the user switches between HDMI channels, the output is available to the user instantly, without any HDCP-related delay. The A/V sink includes the partial HDMI phy decoder core in addition to a full HDMI phy decoder core. The full HDMI phy decoder core is used to extract and decode signals received on the active port. The partial HDMI phy decoder core is used to extract and decode only those HDMI signals received on an inactive port that are needed for pre-authenticating the inactive port.
