摘要: A method to improve the image of a printed barcode by causing controlled “bleeding” of the print pixels within solid printed areas surrounded by a barrier to improve the print contrast ratio within the barcode data element by homogenizing the printed data without causing image bleed into unintended areas. Hence, the printed material will contain more clearly defined printed and non printed areas to enable the printed material to be accurately read.

摘要: New blue inks are provided for inkjet printing, especially using piezoelectric printers, on papers which are typically difficult to print with good quality, high-contrast images. The inks are characterized by a color of the ink (color illumination D65) of L*: about 37±5, a*: about 7±7, b*: about −27±8. The inks contain an aqueous vehicle including water and a humectant comprising a polyhydric alcohol, a penetrant, surfactant, and a blue dye. The relative amounts of the aqueous vehicle, the penetrant, the surfactant and the blue dye, are effective to provide an ink having a viscosity and surface tension effective for inkjet printing, especially for piezoelectric printing, having a viscosity of from about 2 to about 4 mPa·s and a surface tension of from 30 to 50 mN/m. Also provided are a process for printing an image and a printed image prepared using the ink.

摘要: An information based indicia (IBI) that does not require a FIM and is able to be read by Advanced Facer Canceller Systems. The foregoing is accomplished by printing on the mail piece an upper layer IBI indicia over a lower layer invisible ink. The lower layer ink is a dual luminescent ink that is invisible to the naked eye and the upper layer IBI indicia is printed with an ink that is visible to the naked eye. The lower layer may also be produced by two inks, one of which is fluorescent and the other of which is phosphorescent. The fluorescent ink will be printed in one area of the lower layer and the phosphorescent inks will be printed in another area of the lower layer.

摘要: Ink formulations have been conceived that result in inks having improved shelf life, tack and flow properties so that problems relating to ink plugging with contemporary ink pads are reduced. Another advantage of the inks is that they have improved paper dust resistance. These inks are made of a coloring material having an organic pigment dispersed in a modified rosin ester or dispersed in a modified rosin ester and triazine formaldehyde aryl sulphonamide resin dispersed in an alkyd oil. The solvent system is preferably composed of non drying solvents such as emollients and high molecular weight glycols.

摘要: A method and system for authenticating an item by using a security marking. The security marking is provided on the item with an OVD ink capable of absorbing light in a visible wavelength range to appear visibly black and producing a red fluorescent emission under ultraviolet excitation. Under visible light illumination and ultraviolet excitation, a visible image and a fluorescent image are obtained from the security marking using image scanners. The images are compared to find a substantial match with each other. The security marking can be a postage indicium, a barcode, a symbol, a message or an image. The item to be authenticated can be a mailpiece, a banknote, a tag, a ticket, a document, an identification card, or the like.

摘要: In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, a method for embedding key information into a printed document is disclosed. The method comprises creating a first section comprising a first ink having a first color under white light; and creating a second section comprising a second different ink. The second ink comprises a fluorescent ink and has a second color under white light which is substantially the same as the first color, and the fluorescent ink has a fluorescence when subjected to fluorescent-exciting radiation. The first section and the second section are visually indiscernible from each other on the printed document in white light. Also, the second section comprises key information, which is selected or highlighted by a user during creation of the document, and the first section comprises non-selected information.
