Techniques for adjusting the dynamic range of an A/D converter in response to various conditions are disclosed. A value output by the A/D converter is utilized to determine if the A/D converter is operating at or above its current dynamic range capabilities (i.e., the AID converter is potentially “saturated” at its current dynamic range setting). If potentially saturated, the dynamic range of the A/D converter may be increased. If not, the dynamic range of the A/D converter may be decreased or may be unchanged. Alternately, an upcoming or enacted change in the gain settings of one or more gain stages that condition the analog signal input to an A/D converter may be used as a condition that results in an adjustment to the dynamic range of the A/D converter.

An automatic gain control (AGC) system for a receiver and corresponding method facilitate AGC in a receiver. The AGC system includes an on-channel detector 123 configured to provide an on-channel automatic gain control (AGC) indication; an off-channel signal detector 145 configured to provide an off-channel AGC indication; and a controller 143, 173 coupled to the on-channel AGC indication and the off-channel AGC indication and configured to provide a gain control signal corresponding to at least one of the on-channel AGC indication and the off-channel AGC indication.

Dynamic gain and phase compensation is provided in a radio frequency (RF) receiver (106) including at least one switched Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) (212) coupled to an RF gain control unit (226) providing a gain control signal to the at least one switched LNA (212) for control thereof. The RF receiver also includes an analog-to-digital (A/D) converter (222) for digitizing the RF signal and outputting an N-bit digital signal to the RF gain control unit (226). The method for gain compensation includes dynamically adjusting the N-bit digital signal to compensate for the at least one switched LNA (212) in response to the gain control signal. The method for phase compensation includes dynamically normalizing the N-bit digital signal into an M-bit signal range to derive an M-bit digital signal, where M≦N and dynamically phase adjusting the M-bit digital signal to compensate for the at least one switched LNA (212) in response to the gain control signal.

Methods and systems for implementing such methods for providing server fault notifications, diagnostic and system management information may include, but are not limited to: receiving a network fault status request input; illuminating one or more server node fault indicators for one or more degraded server nodes having one or more faults; receiving a server node fault status request input for a degraded server node having one or more faults; and displaying one or more diagnostic service notifications for one or more faults of the degraded server node. The displaying of the diagnostic service notifications may allow for the completion of various service operations associated with the service notifications once the information specific to a fault is presented.

A method of testing power-on reset circuitry in an integrated circuit comprises establishing the a first state of the integrated circuit that is different from a normal reset state of the circuit, lowering the VCC power supply voltage from a normal high operating level VH to a specified lower level VP then raising it back to the normal high level, then determining whether or not the integrated circuit has assumed the reset state. The testing can repeated with a plurality of lower VCC levels VP and under a variety of operating conditions to characterize resetting parameters and to designate pass/fail results for individual chips. If an AC voltage detector is part of the power-on reset circuitry, then it can tested separately, and DC testing occurs with very slow ramp rates for lowering and raising the power supply voltage.

A method and system are disclosed to enable and control power reduction in a blade/chassis system. A “maximum power reduction” attribute is stored in the VPD of the blade (or can otherwise be input to or retrieved or calculated by the management entity). The management module of the chassis in which the blades and power supplies are located uses this information to manage the power reduction of blades when the system is operating in an over-subscription mode and a power supply fails. If throttling is required, the system knows the amount of power reduction available for each blade and controls the throttling by spreading it out among the blades in the system so that, ideally, no blade will cease operation altogether.

The present invention is directed to a method and system for automatic product coding and verification. The system may include a product identification component for identifying a product for coding, a code determination subsystem for automatically determining a product code based on the product identification, and a printing subsystem for printing the determined product code on the product. The system may also include an inspection subsystem for inspecting the printed product code and generating an alarm upon inspection failure. The code determination subsystem may include a controller for receiving the product identification from the product identification component, and a product information database for providing additional product information associated with the identified product to the controller. The code determination subsystem may additionally include a code determination module integrated with the controller for determining a product code based on the additional product information supplied by the product information database.

Security is provided for a data set stored in a data storage canister. The data set has a data size when received for storage within the canister. At least one data security operation is performed on the received data set to generate secure data having a secure data size that may be different than the set data size. The secure data is stored on at least one data storage device within the canister. Any information about the secure data size is kept from the data producer sending the data set for storage.
