摘要: A system enables a rendering intent to be specified for an object in a page description language that does not support the specifying of rendering intents. Such a system includes a user interface for receiving a rendering intent and an identification of an object associated with the received rendering intent, a page description language (PDL) file generator for generating a tag to associate the identified object with a PDL output parameter, and an encoder for encoding the received rendering intent in the PDL output parameter associated with the identified object. Such a system may be used, for example, with a PostScript or a PDF print job file.

摘要: A system is utilized to view and configure one or more print job scenarios within a print system. A preference module allows a user to select one or more preferences related to a print job in view of a job set and one or more limitations related to hardware within the print system. A rules component creates one or more rules for use within the print system to output a hard copy based at least in part upon the preferences selected via the preference module. A scheduler receives one or more rules from the rules component and configures the print system to execute the print job according to the preferences and/or the rules. A visualizer displays a scenario associated with each print system configuration, wherein the preferences and the rules can be edited to create one or more scenarios for execution of the print job.

摘要: An image rendering system includes a digital front end to electronically analyze image data to generate geometry dependent image content information. A print engine, operatively connected to the digital front end, renders the image data. A print engine controller, operatively connected to the digital front end and the print engine, controls various parameters of the print engine. The digital front end transmits the image content information to the print engine controller. The print engine controller adjusts a parameter of the print engine based on the transmitted image content information. The transmitted image content information may be coverage information, reload information, and/or toner pile height information. The parameter of the print engine adjusted based upon the transmitted image content information may be fuser temperature and/or process speed of a developer housing and/or flow rate of toner into a developer housing.

摘要: Spatially dependent colorant interaction effects are identified and isolated from other aspects of spatially dependent colorant appearance nonuniformities. A decorrelating function for compensating for the identified spatially dependent colorant interaction effects is determined. Spatially dependent single colorant compensating functions for compensating for the other aspects of the spatially dependent colorant appearance nonuniformities may also be determined. Image data is processed through the decorrelating function, thereby generating colorant values that are compensated for spatially dependent colorant interaction effects. Optionally, image data is also processed through the spatially dependent single colorant compensating functions, thereby generating colorant values that are compensated for both aspects of colorant appearance nonuniformities. The two kinds of compensating functions may be determined, calibrated and/or stored at different spatial and temporal frequencies or resolutions. One or both of the compensating functions may be employed to maintain consistency across a plurality of rendering devices (e.g., marking engines).

摘要: An improved technique for compressing a color or gray scale pixel map representing a document using an MRC format including a method of segmenting an original pixel map into two planes, and then compressing the data or each plane in an efficient manner. The image is segmented such that pixels that compress well under a lossy compression technique are placed on one plane and pixels that must be compressed losslessly are placed on another plane. Lossy compression is then applied to the lossy pixel plane while lossless compression is applied to the lossless pixel plane.

摘要: A method for scheduling print jobs for a plurality of printers (40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50) includes, for each of a plurality of print jobs, determining a number of pages of a first print modality (such as black only printing) and of a second print modality (such as color printing) for the print job. A file header is determined, based on the number of pages of the first and second print modalities in the print job. The file header is associated with the print job and the print job transmitted, along with the file header, to a print job scheduler (10). The scheduler schedules a sequence for printing the plurality of print jobs by the plurality of printers, based on minimizing, for at least one of the plurality of printers, a number of periods of time during the sequence of printing where the at least one printer is in a non-operational mode; and/or maximizing continuous run time for at least one of the printers.

摘要: An ink key simulator for image forming devices may simulate the effect of ink key adjustments in offset presses. The image adjustment may be made in response to activation of a simulated ink key, for example, by adjusting the pixel values of the stored data and/or by adjusting imaging light source intensity within a given region of the image. Using the ink key simulator, adjustments to image quality from printers may be made on-the-fly using an interface which is familiar to the operators of offset presses.

摘要: A method and apparatus for compressing and decompressing electronic documents, with maximum intradocument independence, and maximum flexibility in optimization of compression modes. The method includes receiving documents containing unknown combinations of a plural data types, including combinations of scanned data, computer rendered data, compressed data and/or rendering tags; dividing the received image into strips of blocks determining from the image itself, which data types are present in each block; compressing data of each data type present in each block with a compression method optimized for its data type. Scanned data may be further segmented into plural scanned data types, where each data type is compressed in said compressing data step with a compression method optimized for said scanned image data type. If the received data type is compressed data, the process may include the additional functions of determining a compression ratio thereof, and accepting the compressed data for use as, or decompressing and recompressing the data, based on acceptability of said compression ration determination. An instruction set is generated that allows detailed decompression instruction data and image data to be combined with transmitted compressed data. A data structure is shown, which segregates data types and instruction data, and allows for block to block and strip to strip processing independence.

摘要: The present invention implements a CMYK to CMYK pre-transform in front of at least one printer to be clustered where the transform is designed to ensure that the printers addressed through the pre-transform have substantially identical output color for substantially identical input CMYK values. As one form of implementation a method is disclosed to build CMY to CMY 3D-LUTs and 1D-LUT for K using sensors in the field. Making use of a system LUT—CMY to CMY 3D-LUT and a K to K 1D-LUT—improves consistency and provides a coherent control strategy and a means to provide standardized input CMY and K values in a clustered environment so that single or multiple vendor DFEs see substantially identical CMYK values.
