    摘要: An item such as a passenger assist handle is anchored to an automotive framing component by a mounting stud passing through a hole in the framing component. The mounting stud includes a shaft with a helix at a first end and a threaded portion at a second end. The helix and threaded portion are of opposite hands and the threaded portion receives a stop nut thereon. The automotive framing component has a teardrop shaped opening therethrough having a first diameter substantially equal to the diameter of the shaft and a second diameter substantially equal to the radius of the helix. Upon threading the nut onto the shaft, while the stud is held initially stationary by frictional engagement between its surface and surfaces of the framing component adjacent to the teardrop shaped opening, the stop nut bottoms against a shoulder on the shaft and then begins rotating the shaft to drive the helix through the teardrop shaped opening. The stop nut then engages the base portion and urges the base portion of the item into a tight relationship with the faming component. Preferably, the mounting stud is made of an acetal homopolymer.

The first end of the base portion is placed over the mounting post. An insert is received in the second end of base portion. A spring is received in the base portion and a cap having an open end sized to be placed over the base portion compresses the spring. At least one stop member is attached to the base portion. The stop member interacts with the cap to lock the cap in position with respect to the base portion when the spring is compressed, maintaining compression on the spring and the insert to ensure an electrical connection between the insert and the mounting post.

    摘要: An evaporative emission canister, for use with the fuel system for an internal combustion engine, includes a canister housing defined by a cylindrical outer wall, a closed lower end wall, an upper end wall and a cylindrical inner wall depending from the upper end wall. An air-vapor permeable support means is positioned within the housing above the lower end wall in abutment against the lower free end of the inner wall to define with the lower end wall an air chamber in flow communication with the atmosphere and to define with the outer wall and the inner wall, an outer canister chamber and an inner canister chamber, respectively, that contain fuel vapor adsorbing material. The inner canister chamber is connected by a fuel bowl vent valve so as to receive vapors emitted from the float bowl of the carburetor of the engine when the engine is not in operation and the outer canister chamber is connected to receive vapors emitted from the fuel in the fuel tank for the engine. First and second orifice passages from the inner and outer canister chambers, respectively, are connected to the vapor purge chamber of a vapor purge control valve whereby fuel vapors can be purged from the canister assembly to the engine during engine operation. In the preferred embodiment, the above-described valves are incorporated into the upper end wall of the canister.

A headliner is provided having a first configuration larger than the roof opening and a free peripheral edge. The headliner is deformed to a second configuration for displacing the free peripheral edge, and a restraining device maintains the headliner in the second configuration. The roof assembly is installed onto the vehicle through the roof opening. The restraining device is removed and the free peripheral edge is attached to the vehicle for concealing the structure defining the roof opening.

    摘要: The ignition spark initiating mechanism of the ignition distributor is operated by a vacuum responsive device for adjusting ignition spark timing in response to engine vacuum. A temperature responsive valve located in a position at which it is exposed to engine intake air and a bleed line including a calibrated restriction are arranged in combination to expose the engine vacuum signal applied to the intake port of the vacuum actuator unit to atmosphere through the inlet and outlet ports of the temperature responsive valve. This combination operates to adjust the level of the engine vacuum applied to the vacuum responsive device proportionally with changes of engine intake air temperature in a direction toward atmosphere as the temperature of the engine intake air increases and vice versa.
