Abstract: A display device with a variant-shape display region other than the rectangular display region is configured to form a scanning line drive circuit along the variant-shape display region. The scanning line drive circuit includes bus wiring group with clock wiring for supplying clocks with three or more phases and the power supply wiring for supplying power, and the unit circuits for configuring the shift register including five or more transistors. The bus wiring and the unit circuits are formed on the different regions so as not to cross with one another.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device having an outer shape of a display region formed other than a rectangle. A driver for supplying a video signal is disposed outside the display region. A selector with selector TFT is disposed between the display region and the driver. A video signal line is disposed between the driver and the selector, and a drain line is disposed between the selector and the display region. A scanning circuit for supplying a scanning signal to the scanning line is disposed outside the display region. The selector is disposed between the scanning line and the display region, and covered with ITO as the common electrode. The common bus wiring is disposed outside the selector.

The structure to realize this purpose is as follows: the terminal area having a lead wire, formed from a first metal, and extending to the display area, a first insulating film covering the lead wire, a second metal formed on the first insulating film, and a third metal formed on the surface of the second metal, wherein the first insulating film has a first through hole and a second through hole, the second metal has a first portion that connects with the lead wire via the first through hole, the second metal has a second portion that overlaps the second through hole, the second portion is separated from the first portion.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate, a liquid crystal layer and an illumination device. The first substrate includes a base, a sensor, a sensor circuit and a sensor light-shielding layer. The sensor is located between the base and the liquid crystal layer in a display area that includes pixels, and outputs a detection signal corresponding to light becoming incident from a side of the liquid crystal layer. The sensor circuit includes a switching element and is connected to the sensor. The sensor light-shielding layer is opposed to a channel area formed in a semiconductor layer included in the switching element, and blocks light from the illumination device on the channel area.

The third wiring region includes contacts coupling the first and second metal layers, and a virtual line connecting the contacts has a curved shape.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a base, a sensor and a sensor circuit. The sensor is interposed between the base and the liquid crystal layer in a display area including pixels. The sensor outputs a sensing signal corresponding to light incident from alongside the liquid crystal layer. The sensor circuit includes a plurality of switching elements. The pixels include first to third sub-pixels. At least some of elements of the switching elements are arranged in each of areas where the first to third sub-pixels are arranged. A signal line for the sensor, which outputs the sensing signal, is placed on a same layer as a feeding line connected to the sensor.
