摘要: In a displacement system for controlled infusion of a liquid from a cartridge comprising a tubular vessel (1), which is at a rear end closed by a piston (3) which may be forced by a piston rod (8) moving into the vessel (1) in the axial direction thereof to press out the liquid through an outlet (2) arranged at a front end of the vessel (1), the piston rod (8) is provided as a flexible incompressible construction which is by a piston rod guide (9) behind the rear end of the cartridge deflected away from the axis of this cartridge, preferably 180.degree.. The piston rod guide (9) has a guiding track comprising a curved part and linear parts at each end of the curved part ensuring that the piston rod is guided along a length (a) in the direction of the axis of the cartridge which length (a) is longer than the distance (b) between the two axes of the piston rod parts projecting from the piston rod guide. The guiding track is further elaborated to the very shape which the curved part of the piston rod will spontaneously adopt when its end portions are kept parallel.

摘要: An injection apparatus (1) for making an injection at a predetermined depth in skin comprises: a first skin positioning member (4, 26); a second skin positioning member (3, 54), wherein the first and second skin positioning members lie or are moveable to lie in an injection arrangement; an injection needle (50); and means guiding the injection needle for movement from a parking position above the skin, through the lower surface of the second skin positioning member to slide beneath the first skin positioning member to an injection position. A further injection apparatus comprises: an injection needle; a plunger (44) within the injection needle; and means for retracting the injection needle such that material to be injected is expelled from the injection needle by the plunger.

摘要: An injection apparatus is described for making an injection at a predetermined depth in skin, including: a skin positioning member for positioning on a patch of skin within an area of skin such that at least a part of the patch of skin may be held elevated above or depressed below the area of skin, an injection needle, and a guidance mechanism for guiding the injection needle to slide beneath the skin positioning member to an injection position in which the distal end of the needle lies at a predetermined distance below the skin positioning member. An injection apparatus is also described including a detachable marker unit and a securing element for securing the marker unit at an injection site prior to the making of an injection to mark the position of the injection site.

摘要: A needle assembly comprises an injection needle and a needle hub, mountable on a syringe, for securing the injection needle. The needle has an injection part extending axially from the hub and terminating in a skin piercing obliquely cut end. The length of the injection part is between 4 and 6 mm, thereby facilitating a proper subcutaneous injection. Also, preferably either (a) the outer diameter of the needle is smaller than 0.320 mm and the bore diameter is larger than 0.165 mm, or (b) the outer diameter is smaller than 0.298 mm and the bore diameter is larger than 0.133 mm. Also, preferably the hub includes an axially extending protrusion, from which the injection part extends, to facilitate insertion of the injection part into the skin of a user at an oblique angle.

摘要: An optical glucose sensor may include an optical fiber and a glucose-permeable membrane having a hollow interior and being coupled to the optical fiber's distal end. The membrane's hollow interior provides a compartment to house a competitive glucose binding affinity assay. The assay may include a glucose analog that may be labeled with a dye, and a glucose receptor that may be labeled with a fluorophore. The optical fiber may include a compound parabolic concentrator tip, and the compartment may additionally house a reflector disposed so as to face the optical fiber's tip. A fluorophore-labeled assay may be interrogated by an optical interrogating system including a light source and a filter substrate having one or more coatings to effect, e.g., an excitation filter and/or an emission filter. The interrogating system may be manufactured as a stacked planar integrated optical system and diced into smaller units.

摘要: A needle unit comprises a needle mounted in a hub having a sleeve made from a deformable material and surrounding an end of the needle at a radial distance from that needle. The sleeve is designed to be snap-locked onto a connecting piece at the outlet end of a syringe by protrusions on the inner wall of the sleeve engaging a circumferential recess in the outer wall of the connecting piece. It is also designed such that the locking engagement between the protrusions of this sleeve and the recess of the connecting piece is released when certain zones of the outer sleeve wall are pressed inwardly. A magazine for storing the needle unit comprises a compartment which can receive the needle unit in a plurality of rotational positions. The needle unit and magazine include a syringe/needle unit release mechanism which, in a first rotational position, does not press the release zones inwardly, thereby allowing the needle unit to lock onto the syringe, but which in a second rotational position, presses the release zones inwardly so that the needle disengages from the syringe and remains inside the magazine for disposal.
