The MS communicates (504) a first portion of the user information between the MS and the communication device through the first one of the wireless connection and the wired connection. Subsequently, the MS establishes (506), between the MS and the communication device a second one of the wireless connection and the wired connection, the second one different from the first one. The MS then communicates (508) a second portion of the user information through the second one of the wireless connection and the wired connection.

The wireless device (306) then detects at least one signal from an egress portal (302), determines that the wireless device (306) is moving from the coverage area of a first communications system to the coverage area of a second communications system according to the order of signals received from the egress portal (302), initiates a registration sequence with the second wireless communication system in response to determining that the wireless device (306) is moving from the coverage area of the first communications system to the coverage area of the second communications system, and conducts present and subsequent calls via the second wireless communication system.

The method begins by receiving a wireless content-identifying signal from a mobile apparatus through an access device located on a premises. The wireless content-identifying signal identifies a first source of programming content that is available to a first rendering device associated with the mobile apparatus. Based on the wireless content-identifying signal, a second source of the programming content is identified which is available to a second rendering device located on the premises. A control signal is transmitted to the second rendering device directing the second rendering device to access and render the programming content.
