摘要: The performance of an automated pouch filler to fill institutional quantity sized bags of foodstuff can be improved by maintaining the sealing edge of the filled bag under tension during the sealing of the bag. Unwanted air can also be removed from the bag by utilization of a pair of squeeze bars to momentarily push excess air from the bag or by evacuating air from the bag through a vacuum tube in combination with soft sealing bars to temporarily close the bag during this evacuation. The top sealing edge is maintained under tension by use of a spring loaded clamp which attaches to one corner of the bag. The rejection rate of seal is dramatically decreased by providing a neck on the bag to form a partially presealed bag which is then sealed along a segment of the top edge of the bag after filling. The rejection rate is also dramatically decreased by sealing the top edge under tension. Laminated bags having an inner and outer bag can be utilized in the presealed configuration which particular advantage if the inner, free bag is tacked to the outer bag at the neck portion of the laminated bag, which inner and outer bags comprise the laminated bag at the neck portion of the laminated bag.

摘要: The performance of an automated pouch filler to fill institutional quantity sized bags of foodstuff can be improved by maintaining the sealing edge of the filled bag taut under tension sufficient to form flat, unwrinkled opposing surfaces along the sealing edges of the bag during the sealing of the bag. Unwanted air can also be removed from the bag by utilization of a pair of squeeze bars to momentarily push excess air from the bag or by evacuating air from the bag through a vacuum tube in combination with soft sealing bars to temporarily close the bag during this evacuation. The top sealing edge is pulled taut and maintained under tension during sealing by use of a spring loaded clamp which attaches to one corner of the bag. The rejection rate of seal is dramatically decreased by providing a neck on the bag to form a partially presealed bag which is then sealed along a segment of the top edge of the bag after filling. The rejection rate is also dramatically decreased by sealing the top edge while it is pulled taut and maintained under tension. Laminated bags having an inner and outer bag can be utilized in the presealed configuration which particular advantage if the inner, free bag is tacked to the outer bag at the neck portion of the laminated bag, which inner and outer bags comprise the laminated bag at the neck portion of the laminated bag.

摘要: An elongated treating chamber in the form of a cylindrical metallic barrel is rotatable about an inclined longitudinal axis. The food material to be processed is introduced into the inlet or higher end of the barrel through the agency of a rotary valve and is removed or discharged through a nozzle at the other or lower end. In one embodiment two solenoid-type induction coils encircle longitudinal portions of the barrel, being energized with alternating current power so as to inductively heat the barrel. The heat is induced throughout the thickness of the wall of the barrel and is then transmitted into the food material as the food material passes therethrough. The temperature of the barrel's outer surface is sensed at two longitudinally spaced locations as the barrel rotates and each of the two induction coils is individually controlled in accordance with the temperature that is desired. The coil nearer the discharge end can be energized with more current than the other coil, thereby permitting the discharge end of the barrel, where there is more food material, to be heated to a greater degree than the inlet end. In a second embodiment, only one solenoid coil is utilized, and the pitch of the coil turns constituting such coil are varied, the turns being closer together at the discharge end where a greater amount of heat is needed than at the inlet end.

摘要: A dresser apparatus is provided for a strand of blow-molded articles interconnected by shorter flashings. A first pair of first rollers and a second pair of second rollers are of the gear type and are mounted for rotation to define pinching planes therebetween along which the strand is directed. The second rollers are relatively spaced to engage the articles and flashings passing therebetween, and are spaced from the first rollers such that the second rollers engage each flashing or article while a succeeding article or flashing is being engaged by the first rollers. A second moving device rotates the second rollers at a predetermined speed which is greater than the speed of the first rollers. Thus, each flashing or article is pulled from the succeeding article or flashing. A final pair of final rollers is mounted for rotation and defines a final pinching plane rotated (turned) with respect to the second pinching plane so that deformation of the articles caused by engagement with the first and second rollers is compensated for by passage through the final rollers. The dresser apparatus may include a third pair of third rollers spaced from the second rollers by a distance longer than the flashings but shorter than the articles so that the separated flashings fall between the second and third rollers while the articles are passed from the second to the third rollers.
