    摘要: A pick mechanism includes a hinged pick arm which moves between a retracted position and a varying, operative position. The pick arm is anchored about a pivot axis and hinged along its length. Rotation of a pick roller along the arm while in contact with a media sheet induces a moment on the pick arm causing the pick arm to pivot and hinge. A first stop limits the pivoting motion. A second stop limits the hinging motion. Such pivoting and hinging is desirable to create an effective normal force enabling reliable picking of thick media sheets. Such motions are limited to prevent the pick roller from translating too far from a media separation ramp. If the pick roller translates too far, undesirable media buckling may occur during the pick operation.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for improving the print quality of a print job having black content. The black content is configured to be applied on a predetermined location on a print medium. In the method, the black content is fortified by applying a black dye based ink on the predetermined location and the black content is printed by applying a black pigment based ink on the predetermined location. The apparatus includes a first printhead configured to fire black dye based ink droplets on the print medium, a second printhead configured to fire black pigment based ink droplets on the print medium and a processing system configured to fortify the black content by controlling the first printhead to fire droplets on the predetermined location. The processing system is further configured to print the black content by controlling the second printhead to fire droplets on the predetermined location.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for reducing print media edge margin tolerances in a printing device with one or more supplies of print media are disclosed. An apparatus embodiment includes a sensor that detects a supply of print media and outputs a signal indicative of the detected supply of print media. The apparatus also includes a computing device that receives the signal indicative of the detected supply of print media. The computing device determines a median position of the supply of print media in a printzone of the printing device based on a plurality of trials of feeding the supply of print media into the printzone and adjusts a position in the printzone for the supply of print media where printing composition is deposited based on the determined median position of the supply of print media in the printzone. A method embodiment includes determining a range of positions of a supply of print media in a printzone of a printing device and determining a median position of the supply of print media in the printzone. The method additionally includes adjusting a position in the printzone for the supply of print media where printing composition is deposited based on the determined median position of the supply of print media in the printzone. Further characteristics and features of the apparatus and method are disclosed herein, as are exemplary alternative embodiments.
