摘要: Methods and apparatus for measuring a phase fraction of a flow stream are disclosed. An infrared phase fraction meter includes a light source for emitting into a flow stream infrared radiation that includes first and second wavelength bands. The first wavelength band substantially transmits through first and second phases of the flow stream and is substantially absorbed by a third phase. In contrast, the second wavelength band is substantially absorbed by the second phase relative to the first and third phases. One or more detectors simultaneously detect attenuation of the first and second wavelength bands upon the infrared radiation passing through at least a portion of the flow stream, and a phase fraction of the second phase is determined based on the attenuation. As an example, the first, second and third phases are gas, water and oil, respectively, produced from a well.

摘要: The present invention provides a method of registering image data for a series of images acquired over a period of time. The images may be acquired from a medical imaging device, such as an MRI scanner. The method allows image-by-image registration to a partially compressed dataset in which motion artefacts are suppressed in a series of target images generated to resemble the original dynamic data. The registration process is refined with each iteration of the process. The method uses Principal Component Analysis which allows accurate registration to be performed without the need to make any assumptions about pharmacokinetic model parameters, which not only avoids the problems of accurate model-fitting but permits the use of much larger target areas of the dataset.

摘要: A method and apparatus for controlling the ratio of ambient air to recirculated gases in an internal combustion engine, wherein an gas injector includes a intake air conduit defining a ambient air flow path, an actuator connected to the intake air conduit, a recirculated gas conduit operatively coupled and disposed within the intake air conduit defining a recirculated gas flow path and a valve apparatus operatively coupled to the intake air conduit and recirculated gas conduit. The valve apparatus includes; a shaft, a throttle valve coupled to the shaft and in fluid communication with the ambient air flow and a recirculated gas valve coupled to the shaft in fluid communication with the recirculated gas flow. The shaft rotates one of the throttle valve and the recirculated gas valve independent of the rotation of the other one of throttle valve and said recirculated gas valve.

摘要: An optical transmission apparatus for transmission of optical signals at an optical wavelength of about 1550 nanometers. The optical transmission apparatus includes a single mode optical fiber link formed of optical fiber having substantially zero dispersion at an optical wavelength of about 1300 nanometers and a dispersion of about 17 picoseconds per nanometer-kilometer at an optical wavelength of about 1500 nanometers. Further, at least one dispersion compensating chirped optical fiber grating is coupled to the optical fiber link, the aggregate dispersion of the at least one dispersion compensating chirped optical fiber grating substantially compensating for the dispersion of the optical fiber link. Further, the at least one dispersion compensating chirped optical fiber grating is coupled at respective positions substantially symmetrically disposed about the longitudinal center of the optical fiber link.

摘要: An exhaust gas recirculation valve is configured as a butterfly valve and includes a body with a generally uniform diameter bore therethrough. A generally circular plate is mounted within the bore and is rotatable between a first open position and a second closed position. The generally circular plate is dimensioned to provide a enlarged gap between an outer edge of the generally circular plate and the bore when at the second closed position.

摘要: A method and apparatus for reducing the effects of motion of a subject during image acquisition is presented. The method is particularly suitable for correcting the motion during magnetic resonance imaging. The method involves comparing an image with a reference image in the spatial frequency domain to determine the extent of any rotational and/or translational motion and then apply an appropriate correction. Any motion is modeled by comparison with the reference image but the corrected image is produced using information from the corrupted image alone.
