摘要: Systems and methods for profiled and focused searching of litigation information allow a user to access specific legal information for use during litigation. The user can connect to a web site and access particular information from multiple sources based on the litigation task the user wishes to accomplish One litigation task is to create a litigation profile for a target, such as a particular litigant, attorney, judge, court, or firm. In this way, the user can perform focused and task-based searching to receive information about particular filings in particular locations, made by particular entities without knowing which sources contain certain pieces of the litigation information. For example, the user can receive all documents relating to summary judgment for patent infringement filed by a particular attorney in a particular court without specifying the source of information. In one aspect, the user can also access the source(s) upon receiving the results.

摘要: A device suitable for removing material from a living being is provided, featuring at least an aspiration pump, powered by a motor. The aspiration pump and any optional infusate pump preferably feature a helical pumping mechanism, and operate at a high rate of rotation, thereby ensuring adequate pumping performance and flexibility. The helical pumping mechanism may be a helical coiled wire about a central core tube. The helical coil wire, whether together with, or independent of, the core tube, may be rotated to cause a pumping action. Additionally, a narrow crossing profile is maintained, ensuring that the device may reach more tortuous regions of the vasculature. In one embodiment, the system comprises a wire-guided mono-rail catheter with a working head mounted on a flexible portion of the catheter that can laterally displace away from the guide wire to facilitate thrombus removal. The working head may be operated to separate and move away from the guide wire to come within a closer proximity of the obstructive material to more effectively remove it from the vessel.

摘要: An attachment tool to facilitate the attachment of one or more catheters or similar elongated instruments to a guide-wire or other elongated guide member, without requiring access to either end of said wire or member. The tool provides repeatable and reliable alignment of components to be attached, while being operated with a single hand. The catheter systems can be used for revascularization or treatment of arteries and lumens within the body, and the associated delivery of therapies therein and can include side attachable and over-the-wire components and/or low profile combination catheters to allow for flush and extraction of debris in small or tortuous anatomic pathways.

The system includes a connector assembly and a deployment instrument for carrying the device to the desired position within the vessel, duct, lumen or tubular organ. The system includes a piercer-dilator instrument to form an opening in the wall of the vessel, duct, lumen or tubular organ into which a connector assembly may be deployed by the deployment instrument. The connector assembly may be at least partially formed of a resorbable material and includes movable members for securing it to the tissue of the vessel, duct, lumen or tubular organ contiguous with the opening. Other components may be included in the device for expediting the procedure, with or without the use of sutures.

摘要: An apparatus for modulating the pressure of a fluid such as a gas within the expandable portion of a guide wire catheter. A preferred embodiment apparatus features a mechanism for controllably gripping and releasing the open, proximal end of a tubular guide wire, a mechanism for introducing a fluid to a desired pressure and volume into the expandable portion of the tubular guide wire through the open end, and, while maintaining the pressure and volume of fluid in the tubular guide wire, a mechanism for introducing a sealing member into the chamfered, open end of the tubular guide wire to consistently seal the fluid in the tubular guide wire. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the apparatus also features a deflation tool for piercing the seal and letting the fluid out. Using this apparatus, the tubular guide wire can be re-sealed and re-opened as necessary.

摘要: Closure devices and methods of use for sealing a small, e.g., percutaneous, incisions or punctures. The closure device may take many forms an basically comprises a somewhat elongated plug having a deformable distal end portion including a free end to which a thin retraction filament is connected. The closure device is arranged to be introduced into the body of the being through the incision or puncture by an introducer so that the distal portion of the plug is located on one side of said tissue and its proximal portion is located on the other side of that tissue, with the filament extending through the incision or puncture. The filament is arranged to be grasped and pulled in the proximal direction to deform the distal portion of the plug so that it cannot pass back through the incision or puncture, whereupon the puncture or incision is sealed by the deformed distal portion of the plug. The distal portion of the plug is non-hemostatic so that when the closure is used to seal an incision or puncture in a blood vessel it will not produce any blood clots within the vessel.

摘要: A method and apparatus for destroying a stone or other hard body located within the body of a living being at a location where the stone is within a liquid. The apparatus comprises a catheter having a rotatable working head at its distal end. The working head comprises at least two radially extending blade-like members, each having plural force concentrating impacting surfaces and plural grooves. The working head is rotated at a high speed while it is in engagement with the stone. The rotation of the working head produces a flow of the liquid past the working head, with some portion of the liquid flowing through the plural grooves. The impacting surfaces impact the stone to break it into particles which are carried by the flow into repeated engagement with the impacting surfaces for further pulverization. The liquid flowing through the grooves reduces the boundary layer effect which tends to sweep smaller particles away from the impacting surfaces. Accordingly, the efficient pulverization of the particles and the destruction of the stone is effected without appreciable injury to the body of the being.

摘要: A catheter device for introduction into the body of a being to effect a procedure, e.g., lumen opening, therein. The catheter is an elongated member having a working head at its distal end and is sufficiently flexible and of small diameter to enable it to be located within the body of the being with the working head at the situs of the procedure. The catheter comprises an elongated drive wire extending through the catheter and motion transtator located at the distal end of the catheter. The wire is rotated at a high speed and the transtator translate that rotary motion into high speed reciprocation of the working head. In some embodiments, the motion transtator also causes the working head to be rotated at the same time it is reciprocated. In other embodiments, the working head is only reciprocated. In all cases, the motion of the working head is at a very high speed. The catheter also includes means to provide a fluid therethrough so that when the catheter is used to open a lumen, e.g., an arterial restriction caused by atherosclerotic plaque, the rotation of the working head causes the fluid to impact the artery wall.

摘要: A flexible, small diameter catheter for effecting various surgical procedures, such as opening a restriction formed of an undesirable material, e.g., atherosclerotic plaque, in a lumen, e.g., an artery, of a living being. The catheter includes a working head having at least one, non-sharp impacting surface arranged to be moved, e.g., rotated, at a high rate of speed by an associated drive means within the catheter. The catheter with the moving working head is brought into engagement to effect the opening of the restriction by dilating the artery and/or removing undesirable material therefrom. The removal of undesirable material results from the impacting surface impacting the material of the restriction repeatedly. A fluid is provided through the catheter to the working head and a portion is thrown radially outward. The fluid at the working head also flows in a vortex to cause any particles broken off from the restriction back to the moving working head where they are impacted again and again to further reduce their size. Such action creates particles of sufficiently small size that they may be enabled to flow distally without significant deleterious effects to distally located tissue.
