    摘要: A method and apparatus is disclosed for supplying a predefined quantity of bulk material to a packaging system. An amount of bulk material which closely approximates the desired package weight is discharged from a surge bin into a loss-in-weight feeder. Accurate single package weight loading of the loss-in-weight feeder yields a lower percentage of weight variance during feeder discharge than more heavily loaded feeders. In addition, the apparatus includes weight bearing springs mounted within the weighing mechanisms of the loss-in-weight feeder such that the weighing mechanisms are not damaged by overloading. The method of accurate filling of the loss-in-weight feeder prior to discharge and the spring protected loss-in-weight feeder cause package portions having optimal weight variance to be supplied for packaging.

    摘要: A system for forming and packaging a bulk of loose particulate material. The system utilizes a compression tower for initial deposit of the loose particular material therein with the bottom floor of said tower being presented by a belt of a conveyor system. A ram within the tower compresses the loose material into a bulk form atop the conveyor belt. Subsequent to compression, the conveyor system is vertically displaced so that the formed material bulk can be conveyed to an horizontally adjacent conveyor for downstream conveyance to a space formed between downstream upper and lower conveyor assemblies. A sheet of packaging material spans the upper and lower conveyor assemblies such that the material bulk is directed through the sheet and enveloped thereby. The system diminishes the dislodgement of the particulate material from the bulk subsequent to its formation and transports and avoids the expenses of utilizing separately formed packaging bags.

    摘要: A method for reciprocally transporting a workpiece on a scan arm through an ion beam is provided, wherein the scan arm is operably coupled to a motor comprising a rotor and stator that are individually rotatable about a first axis. An electromagnetic force applied between the rotor and stator rotates the rotor about the first axis and translates the workpiece through the ion beam along a first scan path. A position of the workpiece is sensed and the electromagnetic force between the rotor and stator is controlled in order to reverse the direction of motion of the workpiece along the first scan path, and wherein the control is based, at least in part, on the sensed position of the workpiece. The stator further rotates about the first axis in reaction to the rotation of the rotor, particularly in the reversal of direction of motion of the workpiece, thus acting as a reaction mass to the rotation of one or more of the rotor, scan arm, and workpiece.

    摘要: A system for forming and packaging a bulk of loose particulate material. The system utilizes a compression tower for initial deposit of the loose particulate material therein with the bottom floor of said tower being presented by a belt of a conveyor system. Subsequent to compression, the conveyor system is vertically displaced so that the formed material bulk can be conveyed to a horizontally adjacent conveyor for downstream conveyance to a packaging station having upper and lower conveyor assemblies. The material bulk is then recompressed and conveyed to a space formed between upper and lower assemblies. A sheet of packaging material spans portions of upper and lower conveyor assemblies such that the material bulk is directed through the sheet and enveloped thereby for transfer to downstream upper and lower conveyor assemblies to maintain compression thereon. The downstream conveyor assemblies are longitudinally shiftable to vary the gap between the conveyor assemblies and minimize bulk decompression during transfer. Packaging material which envelops the bulk material is cut and thermally sealed, leaving the packaging sheet spanning the conveyor assemblies. The system diminishes the dislodgment of the particulate material from the bulk subsequent to its formation.
