摘要: An intravascular catheter carries a helical reinforcement member embedded within at least a portion of the tubular wall of the catheter. The helical reinforcement member comprises a helical first portion having coils of greater pitch than the pitch of helical coils of a second portion. Preferably, the catheter is for insertion into brain arteries, and comprises a flexible tube having an outer diameter of no more that about 0.05 inch, for example 3 French or smaller. The flexible tube defines outer and inner tubular layers. The inner tubular layer surrounds a catheter lumen and comprises chemically inert fluorinated polymer such as PTFE. The outer tubular layer comprises at least three longitudinally spaced, connected tubular sections. The sections are of successively increasing flexibility from the proximal toward the distal catheter end. Also, manufacturing methods are disclosed pertaining to increasing the flexibility of a section of the catheter and joining together in abutting relation a pair of dissimilar catheter reinforcement members.

摘要: Technical challenges of efficiently and cost-effectively deriving energy from the sun are addressed using a manifold and an array of evacuated tubes in fluid connection, in a butterfly or other planar arrangement. Tube and manifold fluid guides are plumbed for coaxial flow and/or parallel flow, and thermally protected by sleeves, stainless steel piping, and/or vacuum. Tubes are provided with a selective low emissivity coating and/or internal mirror to reduce thermal loss. The solar absorption surface of evacuated tubes may be five square meters or more, with only low-quality concentration optics, or no concentration optics used. The tubes array tracks the sun with a two-axis motion platform. Fluid operating temperatures range from 150 to 300 degrees centigrade, depending on the sunlight exposure, working fluid, and supplemental heat source if any. Fluid may circulate heat between the manifold and heat engine, cogeneration facility, and/or other module.

摘要: A blind apparatus to camouflage a person in a natural habitat particularly while hunting wild game such as turkey. A skeletal frame made up of tubular spacers joined with connectors to form top and bottom frame parts that are held apart by spacer poles. A light impervious casing is supported by the frame to form a top, back and opposed sides of the blind. A netting is supported along the entrance way of the blind by the frame and provided with open spaces sufficient to allow line of sight observations into the natural habitat outside of the blind and penetration of an arrow or ballistic of a fire arm.

摘要: We have discovered that exposure of a photoresist on a photomask substrate to a vacuum after the photoresist has been exposed to imaging radiation results in improved critical dimension uniformity of the developed photoresist. Exposure of the imaged photoresist to vacuum is performed for a period of time sufficient to allow pattern critical dimensions to reach equilibrium across the photoresist. The vacuum treatment process of the invention is typically performed prior to the performance of a post-exposure bake process and prior to development of the photoresist. We have also discovered that exposure of a photoresist on a photomask substrate to a vacuum after the photoresist has been developed results in an improvement in the line edge roughness of pattern openings that have been formed through the photoresist layer thickness.

摘要: Sputtering apparatus and method employing an auxiliary magnetic structure situated between the substrate holder and target of a plasma sputtering chamber to control-the lateral extent of the plasma. The auxiliary magnetic structure, possessing a lower field strength in the plasma region than the principal magnet or magnets, is situated immediately outside of and around a circumference of the chamber's anode shield. The principal magnets maintain the plasma in a ring adjacent to the sputtering target. The auxiliary magnetic structure causes the plasma ring to expand toward the edge of the target or contract away from the edge depending on the magnetic strength and polarity of the structure and its position relative to the target.

摘要: A method for operating a gas turbine engine facilitates reducing an amount of emissions from a combustor. The combustor includes a mixer assembly including a pilot mixer, a main mixer, and an annular centerbody extending therebetween. The method comprises injecting at least one of fuel and airflow into the combustor through at least one swirler positioned within the pilot mixer, and injecting fuel into the combustor through at least one swirler positioned within the main mixer, such that the fuel is directed into a combustion chamber downstream from the main mixer.
