摘要: The method of the invention in one aspect involves electronic power control by varying the amplitude of an electrical power supply voltage, independent of frequency, whereby the output frequency will always be the same as the input frequency. An electrical circuit apparatus for accomplishing this function in a specific embodiment is also disclosed herein. The specific circuitry of this aspect of the invention uses eight solid state switches, such as IGBT's, eight diodes, an inductor, input and output filters and novel controlling circuitry. The controller apparatus and methods of the invention may be used to implement all otherwise conventional converter types, buck, boost, and inverting (and duals of these) versions to obtain different regulating characteristics, including galvanic isolation of the output from the input. Indeed, the eight-switch controller can act to either buck or boost the input voltage, and can switch between bucking and boosting during a cycle, thus providing more control of the regulated output voltage. The inventive methods and devices may be used in power factor correction, voltage and/or current harmonic filtering and neutralization, line and load conditioning, control of power transfer between two power grids, and programmable control of surges, sags, dropouts and most other voltage regulation problems.

摘要: A tap changing regulator with at least one regulator stage that has a set of input taps and a set of switches in a switching matrix. The have respective on-off modes to connect one or more of the taps to an output voltage to effect a number of regulation steps, where the ratio of the number of regulation steps to the number of taps is always greater than 1:1. The regulator taps are spaced between sets of windings having a progressive windings ratio of 1 to 3 to 2, or integer multiples of that ratio. Series connected additional regulator stages have an input tap with a windings ratio that is twice the sum of the first stage regulation steps, plus 1.

摘要: A self-aligning connecting system for connecting structural sections (10), the system having at least one pair of connector halves (20), each pair (20) comprising a male half (30) attached at one end of a truss section (10b) and a female half (70) attached at an opposing end of an adjoining truss section (10a). Male half (30) comprises a floating peg (42) within slot (39) which engages a bore (79) located on female half (70). Opposing ends of two truss sections (10a & 10b) are then joined together by inserting the peg (42) of each male half (30) into the corresponding bore (79) of each female half (70). Lock pin (97) then engages each peg (42) in chamber (50) to connect the truss sections. Truss sections (10a & 10b) are thereafter quickly and easily disassembled and reassembled by simply removing and replacing each lock pin (97).
