Abstract: In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method for determining power consumption of a unit of a heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes providing conditioned air to the unit from an HVAC unit of the HVAC system. The method also includes receiving power data indicative of a total power consumed by the HVAC unit, receiving airflow data indicative of a rate of the conditioned air received by the unit from the HVAC unit, determining a power consumption of the unit based on the power data and the airflow data, and outputting the power consumption of the unit.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to collapsible hood for a heating and cooling system that includes a plurality of panels configured to couple to a housing of the heating and cooling system, wherein the plurality of panels is configured to be translated between a collapsed position and an open position, wherein the plurality of panels is substantially flush against the housing in the collapsed position to configure the heating and cooling system for transportation, and wherein the plurality of panels are configured to extend from the housing to protect openings in an air intake of the housing and to allow passage of air through the air intake in the open position.

Abstract: A heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a compressor having a discharge port and a suction port, a first sensor configured to provide feedback corresponding to a first temperature of the working fluid exiting the compressor proximate the discharge port, a second sensor configured to provide feedback corresponding to a second temperature of the working fluid entering the compressor proximate the suction port, and an automation controller storing data indicative of an operational envelope. The operational envelope defines compressor operation coordinates corresponding to a range of suction temperatures and a range of discharge temperatures inside and outside of a target region of the operational envelope, and the automation controller is configured to control a target range of compressor speeds based on a comparison of the target region to an operation coordinate defined by the feedback from the first sensor and the feedback from the second sensor.

Abstract: A cooling system includes an expansion valve configured to exert a first pressure drop on refrigerant circulated through the cooling system. The cooling system also includes a plurality of capillary expansion tubes fluidly coupled in parallel to an output of the expansion valve and configured to exert a second pressure drop on the refrigerant circulated through the cooling system. The cooling system also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the expansion valve, wherein the controller is configured to control magnitude of the first pressure drop by instructing the expansion valve to adjust the valve position based at least in part on refrigerant mass flow expected to be supplied to the expansion valve to facilitate substantially uniformly distributing the refrigerant mass flow between each of the plurality capillary expansion tubes.
