    摘要: A camera comprises an imaging system having a first depth of field for one or more first colours and a second depth of field, smaller than the first depth of field, for one or more second colours. The imaging system may comprise an iris with a first aperture for the first colour or colours and a second aperture, which is larger than the first, for the second colour or colours. The first aperture may be defined by an outer opaque ring (1) and the second by an inner chromatic ring (2). The inner ring (2) blocks the first colour(s) and passes the second colour(s). The image formed of the first colour(s) is sharper and its sharpness may be transposed by image processing to the other images.

The imaging system includes an iris having a first aperture for the first frequency(ies) of optical radiation and a second aperture, larger than the first aperture, for the second frequency(ies) of optical radiation. The inner chromatic ring blocks the first frequency(ies) and passes the second frequency(ies) such that the image formed by the first frequency(ies) is sharper than the image formed by the second frequency(ies), and that sharpness may be transposed to other images by known image processing techniques.

    摘要: A display device is provided that comprises a liquid crystal display panel (2) for displaying an image by spatial light modulation. The image is represented by a plurality of image elements each having an image data value (7). The display device further comprises a display controller (1) arranged to determine a signal voltage to be applied to the panel (2) for each image element in dependence upon its image data value (7) and a secondary data value (8) for the element, there being a predetermined mapping between the data values and the signal voltage. The secondary data values (8) are arranged to vary across the image so as to introduce variations in luminance as a result of the mapping. The mapping and secondary data values (8) are mutually arranged to take account of the signal voltage to on-axis luminance response of the panel (2) so that the luminance variations introduced on-axis tend to balance locally through spatial averaging to, and hence would not be perceivable by, an on-axis viewer (3). The panel (2) furthermore has a non-linear off-axis luminance to on-axis luminance relationship, so that at least some of the luminance variations introduced off-axis do not balance locally through spatial averaging to, and hence would be perceivable by, an off-axis viewer (4).

    摘要: A data line driver circuit for an active matrix liquid crystal display comprises a distributed controller in the form of a control shift register comprising a chain of control DFF's and associated detection logic. Furthermore the drive circuit includes a respective driver stage under the control of each control DFF for sampling the n-bit digital input signal and for supplying a drive signal to a corresponding data line. Each of the driver stages incorporates an n-bit vertically connected sample shift register composed of DFF's and associated 2:1 multiplexers which are used to provide an input either from the relevant bit line of the n-bit input data bus or from the output of the preceding DFF. In operation the n-bits of the input signal are supplied in parallel to the n inputs of the DFF's in a sampling mode, and the n-bits are shifted along the sample shift register towards the output of the shift register in a shifting mode. A serial D/A converter receives the n-bits sequentially and produces an analogue drive signal for driving the data line.
