摘要： A technique for managing a packet to be transmitted to a Mobile Station (MS) that performs Relay Station (RS) handover in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system is provided. In the BWA system, a Base Station (BS) includes a controller for determining whether to perform activecasting on an MS upon receiving an activecast request message; a scheduler for allocating a resource by taking into consideration a channel condition between the MS and a serving RS when activecasting is determined to be performed; and a transmitter for multicasting a packet, which is to be transmitted to the MS, to a target RS and the serving RS by using the allocated resource.

摘要： An apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving a Channel Quality Information (CQI) in a communication system are provided. A Mobile Station (MS) receives first information indicating a representative MS selected from a group of MSs located within a preset range and in similar channel statuses, the group including the MS, determines from the first information whether the MS is designated as the representative MS, and transmits a CQI of the MS as a representative CQI of the MSs included in the group to a Base Station (BS), if the MS is designated as the representative MS.

摘要： Disclosed is a system and method for transmitting data based on an operational state of a mobile station in a communication system. The method includes, when detecting a low battery state of the mobile station, storing one or more data packets to be transmitted to the mobile station, extracting at least one data packet, which has a transmission delay time larger than a difference between a maximum delay time and preset margin, from the one or more stored data packets, and transmitting at least a part of the extracted at least one data packet to the mobile station by using a resource allocated to the mobile station.

摘要： An apparatus and method for performing effective Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) in a multi-hop relay system is provided. The method includes the steps of determining whether a Mobile Station (MS) enters a handover region; if it is determined that the MS enters the handover region, transmitting an E2E-ARQ-Request message, which provides a notification that an End-to-End (E2E) ARQ method has begun to be used, to at least one of a Relay Station (RS) and the MS, transmitting to the RS an ARQ block to be transmitted to the MS, and storing the ARQ block in a queue; and if an Acknowledgement (ACK) for the ARQ block is received from the RS and if an E2E ACK which provides a notification that the MS has received the ARQ block is received from the at least one of the RS and the MS, discarding the ARQ block from the queue. Thus, excellent throughput and Media Access Control (MAC) efficiency can be obtained.

摘要： A method and an apparatus for reducing a handover delay in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. In a method for operating a terminal to reduce a handover delay in a broadband wireless communication system, a handover procedure is performed with a serving Base Station (BS) to obtain a dedicated ranging code and a Connection ID (CID). The dedicated ranging code is transmitted to one or more target BSs using the CID. Whether the dedicated ranging code is received is determined. Therefore, a handover delay and a chance of malfunction can be reduced.

摘要： A method for providing multicast service by a base station in a wireless communication system and a system implementing the method are provided. The method includes receiving one or more multicast service request messages including downlink channel state information from one or more mobile stations, determining the number of mobile stations which have requested a multicast service, determining a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) based on a mobile station, which has transmitted lowest channel quality information, among the one or more mobile stations when the determined number of mobile stations exceeds a preset value, and providing the multicast service through a tth frame by applying the determined MCS. Accordingly, the multicast service is provided by taking a channel state into consideration to improve the utilization of wireless resources.
