    摘要： A fracture fixation system is provided for a fracture of a head portion of a long bone which has subchondral bone defining a convex articular surface, and particularly the proximal humerus. The system includes both smooth pegs and pegs having a threaded shaft. The shaft of the threaded shaft pegs having both smooth and threaded portions. Threaded shaft pegs of different lengths all have the same length threaded portion, but different length smooth portions. A drill bit and depth gauge for use with the system are also provided. A method for drilling holes is also provided.

    摘要： One or more small plates is provided for the fixation of the scapholunate interval between scaphoid and lunate. In one embodiment, a plate is fixed to the bones with fixed angle fasteners to allow complete healing and remodeling of the scapholunate ligament. In another embodiment, the system includes two small plates for the scaphoid and lunate joined by a central element. In yet another embodiment, the system includes two bone anchors for the lunate and scaphoid, also joined by a central element. The central element is flexible, and/or the plates or anchors are movably joined to the central element. The central element in each of these embodiments acts like an artificial ligament and permits more normal motion of the wrist bones while maintaining the scapholunate interval at its correct anatomical dimension.

    摘要： A humeral fracture fixation system is provided and includes a nail-plate fixation device having a plate-like head portion, an intramedullary nail portion, and a bent neck portion therebetween which creates an angle between the plate and nail portions. The upper surface of the nail portion is substantially straight for contact with the endosteum and the nail portion includes threaded holes for machine screws. The head portion includes locking holes for receiving fixed-angle bone support elements, and K-wire alignment holes. The front of the head portion includes suture holes while presenting a smooth profile. A specific implantation jig and screw guide cannula are also provided.

    摘要： A fracture fixation device includes a plate portion and an intramedullary nail portion which is offset relative to the plate portion by a neck portion. The plate portion includes longitudinally displaced peg holes which orient pegs along an imaginary surface parallel to subchondral bone of an articular surface. The upper surface of the plate portion includes a dimple to reference a jig. The nail portion includes threaded screw holes oriented normal to an endosteal surface, and a smaller K-wire alignment hole parallel to the screw holes. The jig has a first portion which references with the dimple and a second portion in alignment over the screw holes of the nail portion. The back of the first portion of the jig is curved upward to facilitate maneuvering of the jig. The first and second portions of the jig includes K-wire guide holes which direct K-wires relative to holes in the device.

The plastic cap completely covers the non-passivated portion of the cut metal, thereby eliminating or substantially reducing the potential for negative reaction by the surrounding tissue. Moreover, there is reduced pain to the patient when flexing muscles surrounding the ends of the fasteners, and the skin can slide over the cap without irritation or inflammation.

    摘要： A bone plating system includes a plate, fixed angle and variable angle bone screws, and corresponding set screws for each type of the bone screws. The plate includes common openings adapted to receive the variable and fixed angle bone screws, both of which can be locked relative to the plate with the set screws. In all modes of use, a set screw, sometimes in combination with a sliding washer, is then used to fix the level of compression and prevent loosening. In one mode of use, a bone screw can also be driven to cause displacement of the plate such that pressure is applied to maintain bone parts together about a fracture in tight engagement.

    摘要： A fixation plate includes a set of threaded peg holes adapted to individually receive fixation pegs therethrough and non-threaded alignment holes having a relatively smaller diameter than the peg holes and preferably sized to closely receive a K-wire. The alignment holes are located between the peg holes. One alignment hole is configured for aligning the plate during an osteotomy procedure, while other alignment holes are configured for use after fracture reduction and receive K-wires to temporarily stabilize the fracture and secure the plate to the bone and determine whether pegs inserted through adjacent respective peg holes will be properly located before drilling relatively larger holes for such pegs. The head of the plate has a shape and contour which provides bone support and a low profile which minimizes the potential for soft tissue irritation.
