摘要: A glass-ceramic material which exhibits extremely low (e.g. less than 100 ppm) shrinkage, when exposed to 900° C. for 6 hours, and methods for making such glass-ceramics. The glass-ceramic is cerammed at a sufficiently high temperature and then cooling in a controlled manner, preferably to below the strain point of the resultant material. Using this technique, glass-ceramic materials were fabricated which exhibited dimensional shrinkage comparable to and in some cases even less than that achieved by fused silica substrates, when exposed to high temperature poly-Si processing temperatures (e.g. 900° C. for 6 hours).

摘要: A method of determining parameters of plurality of thermal cycles to achieve a set glass strain level includes providing a plurality of input parameters for a glass substrate and a plurality of parameters for a plurality of thermal cycles. The method also includes iteratively modifying at least one of the pluralities of thermal cycle parameters so the glass strain is not greater than the set glass strain level after a final thermal cycle is completed. An aspect of the method usefully enables a user to determine from the material parameters and processing sequences of the glass manufacturer and further entities that may further process the glass (e.g., the glass manufacturer's customers) whether a particular glass strain can be achieved; and if not the example embodiments allows the manufacturer to calculate changes in the customers' processes to meet the desired glass strain.

摘要: Glasses are disclosed which are used to produce substrates in flat panel display devices. The glasses exhibit a density less than about 2.45 gm/cm3 and a liquidus viscosity greater than about 200,000 poises, the glass consisting essentially of the following composition, expressed in terms of mol percent on an oxide basis: 65-75 SiO2, 7-13 Al2O3, 5-15 B2O3, 0-3 MgO, 5-15 CaO, 0-5 SrO, and essentially free of BaO. The glasses also exhibit a strain point exceeding 650° C.
