    摘要: Apparatus and a method for merging vertically oriented documents with horizontally oriented documents. The apparatus includes: a document assembler for receiving vertically oriented documents, the document assembler having a pair of parallel paper paths, wherein each of the paper paths includes a device for transporting the vertically oriented documents and a device for stopping and a device for aligning the vertically oriented documents; a device located beneath the document assembler for re-orienting the documents from the document assembler in a vertical orientation to a horizontal orientation; and a horizontal transport located beneath the re-orienting device for feeding horizontally oriented documents toward the re-oriented documents emerging from the re-orienting device, whereby the horizontally oriented documents are merged with the re-oriented documents from the document assembler.

    摘要: In an envelope stacker, a normal force roller mechanism drives a mail piece vertically then retracts without adding significant torque to the stacker. The normal force roller mechanism is comprised of a frame and a bracket pivotally mounted to the frame, the bracket further having an aperture and an arm with a shaft extending therefrom. An idler roller is mounted to the shaft. A hub having a slot is rotatably mounted to a plate. An assembly is provided for moving the plate in a substantially horizontal direction. A generally L-shaped pin having a first end portion and a second end portion extends through the slot so that the first end portion engages the aperture of the bracket. A spring is mounted onto the L-shaped pin between the second end portion and the hub.

A front marginal section of the frame connects the bottom portions of vertical partitions and a leaf spring device is attached to the marginal section. The leaf spring device includes a support section and a plurality of arms that extend upwardly from the support section into the sample tube chambers.

The top wall includes a plurality of sample tube openings. At least one front vertical connecting section connects the bottom portions of two adjacent partitions opposite the rear wall. A leaf spring device is attached to the connecting section. The leaf spring device includes a support section and a plurality of arms opposite the rear wall extending upwardly from the support section into the sample tube chambers.

    摘要: An apparatus is disclosed which is a tape feeding, cutting and ejecting apparatus for a mailing machine which has a feed deck for envelopees and a postage meter for printing postage indicia on successive envelopees as they are fed along the feed deck. The tape feeding, cutting and ejecting apparatus is mounted in the mailing machine above the feed deck and adjacent to the postage meter on the side thereof opposite to the direction of the feed of envelopees for feeding successive finite lengths of tape to the postage meter for printing of postage indicia on a portion thereof and for cutting and ejecting the printed portion of the finite lengths of tape from the mailing machine. The apparatus includes separate drive mechanism for feeding the tape toward the postage meter and for ejecting the severed portion of the tape from the mailing machine, and the drive mechanism for the latter functions also controls the operation of a rotary knife for severing the tape in timed relationship to the feed of the printed tape away from the postage meter.

    摘要: A heating device for desensitizing migration imaging film on an external imaging member scanner. The heating device is curved and has a large surface area to provide maximum heating efficiency. The heating device is mounted to a bracket connected to a scanner cartridge and moves integrally with the scanner cartridge in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the imaging member. The heating device heats the migration imaging film to a temperature to ensure that the surface charge on the film is changed, but is less than a temperature needed for selenium particle migration. As a result, the selenium in the migration imaging film is no longer sensitive under daylight conditions. Thus, the migration imaging film can be removed and heated under daylight conditions providing a significant advantage over film that must be removed and heated under red light conditions.
