    摘要: A stent-graft fabricated from a thin-walled, high strength material provides for a more durable and lower profile endoprosthesis. The stent-graft comprises one or more stent segments covered with a fabric formed by the weaving, knitting or braiding of a biocompatible, high tensile strength, abrasion resistant, highly durable yarn such as ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. The one or more stent segments may be balloon expandable or self-expanding. The fabric may be attached to the stent segments utilizing any number of known materials and techniques. The fabric may be attached to the stent segments utilizing an attachment device that secures the fabric to a strut of the stent segment by sandwiching the fabric between itself and the stent strut.

    摘要: An apparatus for delivering an implant within a lumen or passageway is provided. The apparatus comprises a flexible, hollow outer member having an elongated section that is inserted into and navigated through the lumen of passageway. The implant is mounted within the distal end of the elongated section. An elongated fluid chamber is defined within the outer member between two valves or seals. The valves or seals permit fluid flow in a pre-determined direction during loading of fluid into the chamber, but prevent fluid to exit the chamber during deployment of the implant. A shaft is in contact with the proximal end of the fluid column. During deployment, the shaft is held in a fixed position and the outer member actuated in a proximal direction. The implant exerts compressive forces on the outer member as it is actuated proximally. These forces are transmitted to the fluid column which resists buckling.

    摘要: A medical filter for placement inside a body passage such as a vessel has a first filter half and a second filter half each of which have generally longitudinally extending legs with free ends. The first filter half has a docking station centrally located at one longitudinal end and a stop carried by one of said legs centrally located at its other end while the second filter half has a cylindrical collar and a longitudinally centrally located hook. The filter halves fit together with legs in interlocking relationship and the docking station has a smaller diameter than the diameter of the collar so that the filter can be retrieved by pushing the first filter half into the collar of the second filter half with a mandrel pushing against the docking station while holding the second filter half with a snare attached to its hook to collapse the first filter half in the collar of the second filter half and then pulling the second filter half into the lumen of a retrieval catheter with the snare.

    摘要: A method for pre-loading an implant delivery apparatus and for delivering an implant is provided. An implant is mounted within the distal end of an elongated section of a delivery apparatus. After the implant is mounted within the elongated section, fluid is drawn into a chamber within the delivery apparatus that is proximal to the implant. This is accomplished by drawing fluid, such as a biocompatible liquid, into the chamber by applying pressure to a port. The fluid is trapped inside the chamber forming a liquid column. The elongated section is advanced through a lumen or passageway delivering the implant to a desired location. A shaft, which is in communication with the fluid column, is held stationary and the elongated section retracted deploying the implant. As the elongated section is retracted, the implant exerts forces upon the elongated section that are transmitted to the fluid column which resists buckling.

    摘要: The present invention discloses a composite yarn comprising at least one wear-resistant polymeric fiber and at least one flexible polymeric fiber. The present invention also discloses a co-extruded filament comprising a polymeric inner core and a polymeric outer sheath. The polymeric inner core comprises a flexible polymeric material and the polymeric outer sheath comprises a wear-resistant polymeric material. The composite yarn and the co-extruded filament synergistically combine durability and flexibility, and thereby are particularly useful for the construction of graft materials. The present invention further discloses a reinforced fiber graft comprising wear-resistant beads and weaves of flexible polymeric fibers. In another aspect, the present invention discloses a process for assembling a graft device without suture knots by using the inventive co-extruded filament.
