摘要: A. telecommunications system, utilizing rich calling line handling in call setup signaling to forward RCLIP (Rich Calling Line Identification Presentation) data, forwards at least one call setup signal from the calling party terminal of a caller to a called party terminal of a called party via a network upon the caller desiring to initiate a called without RCLIP data. Upon the caller desiring to initiate a call with RCLIP data, the RCLIP data can either be forwarded with at least one call setup signal directly from the calling party terminal to the called party terminal or can be forwarded with the RCLIP data being attached by the network in accordance with an indicator from the calling party, the RCLIP data being stored in a database in the network. The RCLIP data can be presented to the called party immediately upon the called party terminal ringing/alerting.

摘要: A method of relocating the header compression context in a packet network which transmits packets having compressed headers. A connection is established between a mobile terminal and a first network entity and context information used with compression and decompression of the headers of the packets is stored at the mobile terminal and the first network entity. The context information updating is stopped in the mobile terminal and in the first network entity and after that, a snapshot of the compression and decompression context information is taken and stored in the first network entity. The connection between the first network entity and the mobile terminal is changed to a connection between the mobile terminal and a second network entity. The context information snapshot stored by the first network entity is transferred to the second network entity to be stored therein as the context information of the second network entity. The stored context information at the mobile terminal and the second network entity is then used for compression and decompression of the headers of the packets.

摘要: A data packet transmission method in a packet-switched telecommunication system. A telecommunication protocol comprises a convergence protocol layer for adapting user data packets to convergence protocol packets and a link layer for transmitting the convergence protocol packets as data units and for acknowledging the transmission. A data packet number is defined for the convergence protocol packets to be transmitted. The convergence protocol packets are transferred to the link layer to be transmitted. A data packet number is defined for the received convergence protocol packets and the received convergence protocol packets are acknowledged to the transmitter. The identification data of any convergence protocol packets lost on the link layer are transmitted to the recipient. The counter value of the recipient is updated to correspond to the counter value of the transmitter, to take into account the lost convergence protocol packets.

A data packet number is defined for the convergence protocol packets to be sent by a counter and the convergence protocol packets to be sent are transmitted to the link layer for transmission without the data packet number. A data packet number is also defined for received convergence protocol packets by means of the counter and an acknowledgement of received convergence protocol packets is transmitted to the transmitter.

摘要: The present invention describes a method for selecting a preferable codec mode for a connection between a first communication device (UE1) and a second communication device (UE2), where the devices communicate via a network. An element in the network observes a quality of said connection. The quality is based on a data error level of network resource. Based on the observation the network element judges a preferable operational mode of the codec, from a group of operational modes of the codec. The preferable codec mode is based on the quality level of the connection. In the preferred embodiment, if a Radio Network Controller (RNC) observes congestion by observing Real-Time Protocol (RTP) header information, the RNC judges a lower codec mode for the connection. The lower mode for the connection is judged if there is at least one gap in a sequence of detected packets.

摘要: The present invention relates to provision of data bearers in a communication system (2) comprising a first node (1) and a second node (4). A message is generated that associates with provision of control of a data bearer between the nodes (1,4), said message being based on a data bearer control protocol. Information that associates with responsibilities regarding a quality of service function of the data bearer is included in the message. The message is then transported between the nodes (1,4). The quality of service function of the data bearer is controlled by a control node (1,16) that has been selected based on said information added in the message.
