A semiconductor memory device, e.g., a DRAM, which includes a P-type semiconductor substrate, a memory array each memory cell of which includes at least one N-channel MOS transistor, a CMOS peripheral circuit at least partially surrounding the memory array, the peripheral circuit including at least one P-channel MOS transistor formed in an N-type well region formed in the substrate, and at least one N-channel MOS transistor formed in the substrate outside of the N-type well region, and, a P-type minority carrier absorption semiconductor region formed in the substrate between the N-type well region and the memory array. The minority carrier absorption semiconductor region is preferably connected to a source of negative voltage, e.g., the substrate bias voltage, and a separate N-type region formed in the N-type well region is preferably connected to a source of positive voltage, e.g., the power supply voltage, Vdd, of the memory device. The N-type well region functions to absorb or capture hot electrons generated by the N-channel MOS transistor of the CMOS peripheral circuit, and the P-type minority carrier absorption semiconductor region functions to absorb or capture holes which would otherwise combine with the hot electrons to induce substrate current which could deleteriously lower the threshold voltage level of the memory cells of the memory array and thereby degrade the data storage integrity thereof.

An embodiment of a method for transmitting data includes determining whether a first type or a second type of content data is to be transmitted, where the first type of content data is to be transmitted at a first multiple of a base frequency and the second type of data is to be transmitted at a second multiple of the base frequency. The method further includes selecting one or more channels from a plurality of channels based on the type of content data, clocking a frequency on the first or second multiple of the base frequency according to the type of content data in the selected channels, modifying the content data to fit within a single output channel, and transmitting the modified data via a single output channel at the chosen multiple of the base frequency.

In one embodiment, an active port facilitating communication of media content between a transmitting device and a receiving device is identified, while the active port are associated with a first High-Definition Content Protection (HDCP) engine. Then, inactive ports that are in idle mode serving as backup ports to the active port are identified, while the inactive ports are associated with a second HDCP engine. Pre-authentication of each of the inactive ports is performed so the pre-authenticated inactive ports can subsequently replace the active port if a port switch is performed.

Provided are fibrous composites prepared by methods of the present invention, comprising oxides and biodegradable polymers, in which the fibers are made of aerogel-like oxide materials having nanometer-sized pores. The fibrous composition advantageously has, at least, the following characteristics: (i) a very high nanoporous surface area, which also permits nucleation of crystallites; (ii) mesoporous/macroporous interspacial networks between the fibers, providing high bioactivity and a high transport rate; (iii) macropores for natural bone-like tissue growth; (iv) good mechanical properties for handling and for implant support; and (v) biodegradability for implant dissolution and time-variable mechanical properties. Further provided are methods for using the bioactive biodegradable fibrous composites as osteogenic composite materials for tissue engineering, tissue re-growth, bone implants, and bone repair, and/or for the delivery of drugs or therapeutic compounds.
