Disclosed is a call admission controlling device and method for providing QoS (quality of service) in the portable Internet. When a mobile terminal requests a guarantee of the corresponding QoS and a call admission, a packet access router calculates a bandwidth available for resource reservation according to mobility characteristics of a cell to which the mobile terminal belongs, and determines resource reserved states according to the mobility characteristics with adjacent cells based on the calculated bandwidth to thus control call admission in order to satisfy a handoff dropping probability of the corresponding cell and prevent disconnected calls when a handoff toward the adjacent cells occurs. As a result, the handoff dropping probability of cells is guaranteed, and the resources are utilized effectively.

The present invention relates to a security association negotiation method of extensible authentication protocol (EAP) for authenticating a subscriber station user in a wireless portable Internet system. An exemplary security association negotiation method using a user authentication in a wireless portable Internet system according to an embodiment of the present invention includes following steps. A base station generates an authentication key for authenticating a user of a subscriber station. The base station receives a security association capability request message including security association capability information of the subscriber station from the subscriber station after generating the authentication key. The base station determines whether the base station is able to accept a security association capability of the subscriber station included in the security association capability request message. The base station transmits a security association capability response message including the security association capability information which is selected for a security association with the subscriber station by the base station when the security association capability of the subscriber station can be accepted. According to the present invention, a subscriber authentication for EAP may be efficiently performed without an additional message after a handover.

The present invention relates to a method of providing a multicast broadcast service. A message for providing an MBS (Multicast Broadcast Service) between network constituent elements is defined by applying a message defined in a wireless channel, and functions and parameters to be performed by the network constituent elements are defined. Therefore, the MBS can be provided in a wideband wireless access network that is a field of a mobile communication system and includes a wire channel.

In a communication system, a plurality of radio access systems (RASs) respectively receives connection resources from an MBS server for transmitting a multicast broadcast data packet. The MBS server is involved in transmission of the multicast broadcast data packet. Then, the plurality of RASs receive the multicast broadcast data packet including parameters for synchronization between the plurality of RASs and parameters for size and location of the multicast broadcast data packet and deliver the received multicast broadcast data packet to a portable subscriber station (PSS). Thereby, the plurality of RASs can transmit the multicast broadcast data packets with the same location and the same size to the PSSs at the same time.

The present invention relates to a wireless communication system and a service flow identifier management method thereof. The wireless communication system includes a plurality of RASs for controlling a plurality of PSSs in a radio network, and a plurality of ACRs for providing wireless communication services to the PSSs through the plurality of RASs, and respectively managing a service flow identifier used for identifying a connection service for each PSS. When a status of each service flow identifier managed by the plurality of ACRs is different, the wireless communication system releases the corresponding service flow identifier so as to set the status of each of the service flow identifiers to be the same. According to the present invention, in the wireless communication system, the plurality of ACRs separately manage service flow identifiers, and mismatched service flow identifier information due to errors in the system or a node or message transmission/receiving errors can be set to be the same. In addition, when a partial system error occurs and thus the system is restored, a service flow identifier not having the same status due to the error can be efficiently released and set to be the same.

A method of establishing a multicast connection is provided. A mobile station transmits a registration request message for a discovery of a multicast service to the base station, and receives a registration response message from the base station in response to the registration request message. The mobile station exchanges a DSA request message and a DSA response message to the DSA request message with the base station, for a multicast connection on the multicast service. The mobile station receives a downlink control channel including allocation information of multicast resource from the base station.

A method of allocating a multicast resource to a multicast group for a multicast communication in a base station is provided. The base station persistently allocates the multicast resource to the multicast group, generates a MAP IE including allocation information of the multicast resource, an allocation period indicating a period in which the multicast resource is allocated and a lifetime in which allocation of the multicast resource is maintained, and transmitting the MAP IE to the multicast group.
