摘要: Methods and compositions for fabricating composite parts including at least one structural material and at least one protective material that are integrally bonded without the use of secondary bonding operations. One or more of the materials forming the layers of the composite parts may be a ceramic composition with or without porosity and one or more of the materials may be a polymer composition. Methods including co-injection processes also are provided for fabricating multi-layered structures in which each layer serves a desired function while still being integrated into the overall structure.

摘要: The invention is drawn to a nozzle device for gas torches which allows interactive, real-time control of thermoplastic processing and a method of using this device. The device consists of a movable nozzle slide that it attached to the tip of the torch. The nozzle slide can be moved in an upward or downward direction, thereby changing the amount of heat contacting the material.

摘要: A mixing capsule for mixing a first material with a second material, and in particular, a capsule in which the materials are kept separated and brought together only at the time they are to be mixed. The capsule is characterized by a pierceable partition which separates the materials to be mixed, a projection for piercing the partition and two grooves and a ridge. One of the grooves cooperates with the ridge so as to maintain the projection away from the pierceable partition during storage and transport. The other groove cooperates with the ridge so as to hold the mixing capsule together and prevent leakage once the partition is pierced.

摘要: A probe assembly for injection of microwave energy into the cylinder cavity of a diesel engine and detection of luminescence indicative of fuel ignition in the cylinder. The probe assembly comprises a probe with microwave and optical transmitters extending axially therethrough adapted to be threaded into a cylinder opening. A coupler is removably mounted on the probe and includes an optical detector mounted in assembly coaxially with the optical transmitter in the probe and a microwave antenna coupled by a waveguide cavity within the coupler to the probe microwave transmitter. The coupler is adapted for connection to suitable external diagnostic circuitry for providing to such circuitry signals indicative of piston position within the cylinder and fuel ignition as a function of the microwave and luminescence signals respectively.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a single point seismic system comprising an array of air guns disposed within a frame. The array includes a cluster of air guns on one of its ends and a reduction in chamber size of the air guns along the length of the array. On the end of the array opposite the cluster the array can comprise a series of air guns whose chamber size is an order of magnitude less than the chamber size of the guns comprising the cluster. The middle of the array can comprise a series of air guns whose respective chamber volumes differ by an order of magnitude. The frame of the present invention is generally wholly submerged during operation and does not interfere with the seismic signal produced by the firing of the air guns.

摘要: A nuclear reactor core sub-assembly is provided with a removable lifting head (12)/absorber pin (20) assembly. The absorber pins (20) are connected to the lifting head (12) in such a way that they can be disconnected, inverted and reconnected the other way round, either collectively as a unit or individually. This allows the same absorber pins to be used at least twice over in different sub-assemblies since only the absorber material closest to the core tends to become depleted during irradiation.

摘要: An engine ignition timing control system and method wherein a timing module associated with a given engine includes a read only memory and circuitry for generating information related to engine crankshaft rotation. The module memory is programmed with information relating piston position to crankshaft rotation. The crankshaft rotation and piston position information is made available to an on-board ignition computer for precise control of ignition angle. Also disclosed are a system and method for separately programming the module memory associated with each engine as a function of the piston mechanics of that engine.
