Abstract: A system for facilitating the effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by providing feedback regarding release velocity, which is the velocity of the chest while resiliently expanding during the upstroke of a CPR compression cycle. The feedback is provided, indicating whether the CPR provider has substantially released the chest, through a control systems which analyzes sensor input corresponding to chest displacement to determine chest compression depth and release velocity, compares the determined release velocity to a desired release velocity threshold. The desired release velocity is determined based on the depth of compression. The desired release velocity may be determined based on assumed or target compression depth, selected by a CPR provider and input into the control system, or the desired release velocity may be determined adaptively, based on the chest compression depth achieved during compressions and/or the rate of compressions, as determined by the control system.

Abstract: Computer-implemented system and method that allows for the rehabilitation of individuals with strabismus by leveraging commercially available VR headset technology. Eye tracking capabilities and external cameras of existing VR headsets, enables the system and method to first gather the image that the dominant, unaffected eye is focused on (FIG. 1). Then, given where the strabismus unaffected eye's gaze falls on its screen, the system and method will take the image and identify where that point lies on the strabismus affected eye's screen. This point is the ideal gaze point of the strabismus affected eye. The software solution disclosed herein will then warp the strabismus affected eye's screen so that this new gaze will line up with the unaffected eye's gaze.

Abstract: An apparatus for assisting the mobility of a user is disclosed. The apparatus includes an electronic device provided in a device body and a haptic unit. The electronic device includes a sensing unit, a machine vision unit, and a path planning unit. The machine vision unit is connected to the sensing unit and is configured to detect one or more obstacles in a vicinity of the user. The path planning unit is capable of developing a movement route for the user to avoid the one or more obstacles. The haptic unit includes a haptic arrangement having a plurality of haptic actuators adapted to provide a tactile stimulation to the torso or limbs of the user. The plurality of haptic actuators actuate based on the movement commands from the path planning unit to signify a travel direction in which there is no obstacle.

Abstract: A guide system is provided that uses a plurality of sensors to identify and determine a clear path for an ambulatory vision impaired person. The system includes one or more wheels that rotate to propel the system, a platform supported by the one or more wheels and housing a processor, a rigid harness with a haptic feedback grip that is positioned to be grasped by an operator, and one or more sensors configured to sense information about the environment. In operation, the processor analyzes information sensed by the sensors to identify object in the path of the guide system and sends messages to the operator to allow the operator to avoid the identified objects. The messages may be sent to the operator via the haptic feedback grip or audibly via a speaker or via a wireless connection to a haptic or audio device being worn by the operator.

Abstract: It is determined whether a traffic light is recognized in an image based on each of a result of a recognition operation by a traffic light first recognition unit (a recognition operation of the traffic light for an image acquired by a camera using a learned model based on pre-annotated data) and a result of a recognition operation by a traffic light second recognition unit (a recognition operation of the traffic light for an image acquired by the camera based on a feature amount of the traffic light). This makes it possible to sufficiently obtain the recognition accuracy of the traffic light, and to appropriately perform an instruction to a pedestrian according to the state of the traffic light.

Abstract: A rejuvenation and massage device is provided for treating mucosa tissue, such as vaginal tissue, affected by Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (VRS) or other conditions, through vibration, thermal loading, and light emittance for a duration of time. In one embodiment, the device is an insertable device that includes Low-Level Laser Light (LLLT) therapy to treat the vaginal tissue. The light emittance by one or more light emitters is in a range sufficient to provide therapeutic effects through light radiation. To enhance the therapeutic effects of light radiation provided by the device, the device is configured to provide increased energy density into target tissue of vaginal muscles though a light configuration component (e.g., a focusing component, such as a concave lens assembly, a convex assembly, a pre-lensed light emitter or other focusing optical mechanism) associated with the light emitter that concentrates the light emitted from the light emitter.

Abstract: A robotic walking assistant includes a wheeled base having a base and one or more position adjustable wheels connected to the base, a body disposed in a vertical direction, positioned on the wheeled base and having a handle, and a control system that receives command instructions. Each of the one or more wheels is slidable with respect to the base between a retracted position and an extended position in a direction that is substantially parallel to a surface where the wheeled base moves. In response to the command instructions, the control system moves the one or more wheels between the retracted positions and the extended positions.
