摘要: A mechanism for registering ultrasound images with an anatomical map generated using a dielectric imaging process. The positions of electrodes that move with the ultrasound probe are monitored using the same dielectric imaging system that generated the anatomical map. The position at which ultrasound images are generated is captured, and this information is used to register the ultrasound image(s) with respect to the anatomical map.

摘要: A hair cutting device for cutting hair on a body of a subject includes a light source for generating laser light at one or more specific wavelengths corresponding to wavelengths absorbed by one or more chromophores in hair; and a cutting element that has an optical waveguide that is coupled to the light source to receive laser light. A portion of a side wall of the optical waveguide forms a cutting face for contacting hair where, at least at the cutting face, the optical waveguide has a refractive index that is equal to or lower than the refractive index of hair and higher than the refractive index of skin.

摘要: A medical interventional tool has distal and proximal ends. A responsive material is located at the distal end or elsewhere along the interventional tool and is capable of providing a temperature-dependent or pressure-dependent optical response. At least one optical guide is in optical communication with the responsive material to collect an optical signal from the responsive material located at the distal end or other location along the interventional tool. The at least one optical guide further guides the collected optical signal to an optical output at the proximal end of the interventional tool. An optical response analyzer is configured to receive the collected optical signal from the optical output and to process the collected optical signal to derive therefrom a temperature or pressure reading or indication representative of a temperature or pressure at the distal end or other location along the interventional tool.

摘要: The present invention relates to an optical transceiver, comprising an optical converter circuit (24) comprising an optoelectronic device (26), an electronic appliance (30) generating data, and circuitry (28) configured to control the optoelectronic device (26) and the electronic appliance (30). The optoelectronic device (26) is configured to, upon receiving an incoming optical beam, convert the optical beam into electrical energy. The optoelectronic device (26) is further configured to emit optical pulses, wherein emission of the optical pulses is induced by the incoming optical beam through photo-induced electro-luminescence (PIEL), wherein the optical pulses based on photo-induced electro-luminescence comprise the data generated by the electronic appliance (30). The circuitry (28) is configured to modulate the data onto the optoelectronic device (26) according to a multiple signal-level coding scheme causing the optoelectronic device (26) to emit the optical pulses in more than two different levels of a discrete set of optical intensities.

摘要: A method for end-reflection reduction of an optical shape-sensing fiber is described. The includes: providing a tip portion having a length dimension (d); connecting the tip portion to an end portion of an optical fiber configured for optical shape-sensing, the tip portion being indexed matched to the optical fiber; and adjusting the absorption properties of the tip portion using back reflections as feedback to provide an absorption length for light traveling in the optical fiber to reduce the back reflections.

摘要: An optical apparatus (200) includes an outer jacket (230), common cladding (220), and multiple single mode fiber cores (210). The common cladding (220) is within the outer jacket (230) and is used as multimode fiber such that the outer jacket (230) clads the common cladding (220). The single mode fiber cores (210) are within the common cladding (220) such that the common cladding (220) clads the plurality of single mode fiber cores (210).

摘要: A radio frequency (RF) antenna arrangement comprising an RF antenna element and an optical back-end. The RF antenna element comprises an electrically conductive loop, an electronic pre-amplifier and a photo-electrical conversion element. The optical back-end comprising an optical power source and a photodetector. The RF antenna element and the optical back-end being optically coupled, and wherein the optical power source is optically coupled to the photo-electrical conversion element. The photo-electrical conversion element generates upon incidence of optical power from the optical power source an electrical power signal to the pre-amplifier. The photo-electrical conversion element generates optical data signals from electrical data signals picked-up by the electrically conductive loop. The photo-electrical conversion element applies the optical data signals to the photodetector.
